The University will be holding a memorial event tomorrow at noon at Federation Hall to honor and celebrate the lives of o...ur Waterloo community members who died in the crash of Ukrainian International Airlines Flight PS752. During the memorial event, we will take part in a nationwide moment of silence, joining with Universities Canada and other Canadian academic institutions to pay tribute to those students, postdocs, faculty members, alumni and our broader community whose lives were cut short on January 8. I invite you to join us in solidarity with the friends and family of those who were lost either by attending the memorial, watching via Livestream (https://livestream.com/accounts/2091193/events/8960357) or participating in the national moment of silence at 1:00 p.m. (ET). We remember Waterloo Ph.D. students Marzieh (Mari) Foroutan of the Faculty of Environment and Mansour Esnaashary Esfahani of the Faculty of Engineering as well as Engineering alumnus Mojgan Daneshmand, her husband Pedram Moussavi, a former post-doctoral fellow in the Faculty of Engineering, and their children, and School of Optometry and Vision Science alumnus Dr. Neda Saddighi. They will be dearly missed.

Yalda celebration
