We are launching our Adaptive program this year and we are looking to host 'Give it a Go' day clinics across the province at as many lakes as we possibly can. We have confirmed some dates for clinics at Predator Bay Water Ski Club in Calgary in 2021 and we look to reach out to host more clinics at more locations across Alberta. . At WSWA we have been fortunate to have some great coaches that teach new and current members and make a difference in our sport. Let us introduce Sean Kraus. Sean was our Alberta Coach in the North this summer. Sean coached at Shalom Park Water Ski Site. He began coaching mid June and coached until early August. This summer, Sean trained members of the Alberta Junior Team and Development Team and many other kids of all ages. Sean coaches slalom, trick, jump. ... Sean worked with many newcomers to the sport and many kids of the regular skiers at Shalom Park. He was involved with teaching new kids to run the course and then some of these kids then skied in their first tournament this summer. Of the kids he has taught, he has brought some of the from learning to ski on the boom to getting behind the boat, teaching many to get up on one ski, to running the mini-course and eventually the full course. Sean has had great success with skiers of all levels and all ages. His coaching has had huge impacts on all these skiers. Sean also coaches elite junior skiers. These athletes train hard and work to make international teams like the PanAm Team and the U17 Junior Team and the U21 Junior Team. Some of his greatest coaching successes has been working with Shae O'Brien, a WSWA Junior Team Member. He works with her on all 3 disciplines of slalom trick and jump. This summer Sean has worked with Shae to improve her trick run which she now has landed a flip. He has worked with her on her jumping which she continually improves hugely each year. In fact, Shae set a new Canadian Jump Record for the GU14 division this summer. Besides coaching, Sean is an amazing 3 event skier and finds time to train and compete. We wish him luck as he is off to University this Fall for academics as well as to ski for the university team. Thank you Sean for coaching for WSWA this past season and we look forward to your coaching again next season.
