First they weren't extending Christmas break, then they were considering it, then they backtracked a day later. Parents have enough on their plates without following the Minister of Education's press conferences to try and figure out what's happening in schools. 680 Ontario schools have had an outbreak. We have a break and a chance to reset and put a solid plan forward. The Ford Government has over 9 billion in unspent COVID-19 funds. Restaurants and Bars in Niagara will close unless the Premier intervenes - this is an emergency. Families in our communities will lose their livelihoods without help and today I asked Ford to look at the camera and tell owners help is on the way. The fact that he couldn't even answer the people of Niagara speaks volumes.

Niagara businesses are about to go under unless they get immediate financial assistance from Ford - and this garbage bill is what Ford's Conservatives spent their time on yesterday. They used valuable hours in the Legislature to debate and pass a bill shielding Long-Term Care homes from lawsuits after the Canadian Military exposed how our parents and grand-parents were being abused there. They ignored the critical pandemic response Niagara needs immediately so they could protect private long-term care homes from lawsuits from families. This week we debate and vote on Bill 218. This bill strips away our ability to seek justice on one of the most heartbreaking issues we've endured this year-- negligence at our long term care and retirement homes. We've lost too many of our parents, grandparents and loved ones to COVID-19 in long term care. Bill 218 will protect these homes from legal action and stop us from holding them accountable. The relationship between this conservative government and private for-profi...t long term care is too close. Loblaws - clawed back Hero Pay the second the cameras were off and now sends that money to shareholders. This isn't about the money (by the way they're making massive profits) and this is exactly why we need the Premier to stand with us. These workers are still heroes and still deserve the pay among so many other front-line workers.
