Much needed game time. First goals and first win against a plucky organised Harrogate. Excellent goals, and stand out performance by goalkeeper Button making his debut, and a cracking imaginative display from Kyle Edwards. Although Albion made a much changed side that played Leicester the weekend, in fact only O’Shea keeping his place. Much needed minutes were given to squad and fringe players. Peltier and Kipri made decent debuts, and apart from both Robson-Kanu and Austin ...most made a decent professional job of it. Robson-Kanu hit a wonder strike, no denying but his continued running nowhere with the ball and hesitance in playing the simple pass, made you wonder if he has what it takes at the highest level. Austin looked shot of confidence and this was really summed up when he missed a glorious chance to put the game to bed. Substitutes again was a mixed bag, Sawyers doing little wrong, Robinson bagging our third, and Matty Phillips looking a shadow of the player he once was. I understand that we are trying to offload Zahore, perhaps this is because he holds more value than HKR, Austin and Phillips either way, you wonder if Bilic has seen enough, or perhaps not enough from all three mentioned. We need the club to be effective in recruiting more suitable players in such a demanding league. Anyway we are into the next round, and that’s a bonus at this point of the season. Onto Goodison and the much improved toffees next. COYBB #leaguecup #wbafc #soccercanada See more

Outfoxed in the end. After a decent account of ourselves in the first twenty-five minutes or so, we rode our chances, then ran out of ideas towards the end of the first half. Such is the ferocious pace of the premiership it was inevitable that Leicester would take advantage of their increasing possession, it was credit to the baggies getting to half time without conceding, smart blocks by Johnstone denying the former loanee Harvey Barnes . The second half started pretty mu...ch the same, with Leicester on top. Needlessly giving up the ball in the centre of the field will get punish by the elite, and this was the case when the Leicester’s new 22 million pound signing found the net with a precise header. Two sloppy challenges sent Vardy to the spot, who dispatched both identically. Most teams will know that Pereira and Diangara are our danger men, as today both showed decent touches, but were quickly smothered of any real dangerous creativity. It’s obvious that we are in dire need of a proven striker, but even if we had the player today, I doubt the outcome would have been any different. Valuable game time and experience being the only positive from today’s game. We need to trust in Slaven, trust in our recruitment and stick together. #wbafc #wbalei #epl See more

We must be happy with the news of Diangana signing a five-year contract? Although it is my understanding West Ham have a hefty sell on clause. Diangana could be the most exciting player to wear the stripes since Laurie Cunningham. Such is the quality of this young man; I can see he ends up at the Bernabeu like our Black Pearl. Can you imagine the fee? Hopefully we get the most of his talent, and I’m sure he had better offers elsewhere, choosing us must have been equally to do... with the gaffer and the comradery within the squad. It is interesting to see the loan signings we had last year, seemed to settle so well and get along with each other and existing team members. If we can lock up Krov and Robinson also, I feel we can get amongst the elite, starting next week against Leicester. True we need an established centre forward. I have faith in our recruitment. Grant would do the job, and 18 Million would get the former Latic. It would also bring in another cockney geezer in the team. Call me an optimist, but I think our style will suit the premiership, we have an abundance of youth, a spine of established premiership players apart from between the posts. Finally able to breathe after the nerve wrecking, doubt setting, gut wrenching end of the season in the championship. After the lockdown we played Birmingham City and we were sitting comfortable with a double digit lead to our next automatic promotion hopefuls. After a tight defeat against the brilliant Brantford, we had a few mediocre performances and one brilliant dominant one against Rooney’s Derby. Who themselves were the for team since the closure of the transfer window.... An absolute shocker against Huddersfield, you could sense doubt amongst many of the players. Our lack of confident strikers was clear, neither HRK or Austin looked like holding down our only main striker position. Even Zohore was tried, eventually or final curtain opened without any of them and the pacey winger Robinson was given the responsibility of leading the line. Apart from wrapping it up whilst 2-1 up, a story of our season. Calum produced the goods, with a goal and a super layoff for the mesmerizing Diagana goal. A final home game producing a 2-2 draw after a worldy from Eze, who thought this game would be easy? It was a case of all the hard work in the front and middle end of the marathon, was enough to carry us home. With Brentford faltering in the final two games, two games they played very well in. It just shows how crazy and cruel this league can be. Barnsley bottom for most of the season, ended up staying up beating the most in form team. Forest with a cricket score goal difference along with three points clear of Swansea, must have been arranging their Sunday dinner around the upcoming playoff against Brentford. Only to choke against our old enemy and now BFF Stoke, it still took Swansea requiring a final goal in the last minute. At our final whistle with conformation yet to come through, all eyes were on cell phones, laptops or ears close to radio commentaries. Finally we could celebrate, but my fifty year old frame had nothing left. I simply spent time with my kids, struggling to understand why our baggies have such an impact on my day to day life. We now have a few weeks off, before the next chapter in the promise land. I hope that with the windfall we can land a decent forward and perhaps a loanee like Brewster. A left back, a commanding goalkeeper, and Grady Diagana permanent signing. This would then give us a fighting chance of finishing 17th next season. COYBB! Unfortunately due to the Covid-19 we have closed our bar. This means we have no option to show any possible upcoming games. I wish each and every person who have visited the Cavern and supporting the Baggies in Toronto all the best. Stay safe and soon we'll have our stars in stripes back in the prem. #COYBB!

Another point in the right direction, Leeds may have closed the gap, but the gap to third has increased. Patience and cool heads needed for the remainder.

Park Life! We played awful, but won. When blues tried to make it a scrap, we came up with the knockout blow. On the left hand side we looked dodgy as snakes, we missed Gibbs for sure, and now have Diangara out,. Injuries and suspensions are often rife this time of year, we just gotta keep scrapping away. Healthy gap between third. COYBB!
