Our second-year fundraising for our National Charity, Ronald McDonald House Charities Canada, was a huge success, and we would like to thank each of you who donated and helped be a part of this incredible cause! With generous donations, Willowbrae Academy locations came together and raised a grand total of $15,645 in donations from both of our yearly fundraising events. We look forward to next year’s annual fundraisers (PJ WALK and Pancake/Muffin Breakfast). Thank you again and congratulations to all for being a part of this incredible organization!

Willowbrae Academy has created a new position of National Health and Safety Manager in addition to establishing local Academy Health and Safety Managers within each Academy. These individuals are responsible for the effective implementation of preventative health measures to decrease risk, and ensure we respond effectively to any situation that may arise.

We are honored to be partnered with Hal Johnson & Joanne McLeod, of BodyBreak to develop BodyBreak KID FIT. BodyBreak KID FIT is a healthy-living initiative designed to educate both children and their parents about the importance of daily physical activity, rest & sleep, healthy food choices, and other positive lifestyle habits.

Proper handing washing is a critical step in ensuring our Academy is a safe and healthy environment. Our Health Management policies and procedures include proper hand washing protocols and to demonstrate, we have displayed proper hand washing posters at all our cleaning stations and sinks.

Willowbrae Academy has mobilized a National Health Management Committee to focus on the development of new health management protocols to ensure our staff and the children we serve are safe and cared for in a reduced health risk environment. The mandate of this committee is to establish policy and procedures that ensure our Academies: 1) effectively deal with ...risk associated with the current pandemic; and, 2) are prepared to deal with future illness outbreaks. What an incredible and fulfilling experience! Last week Willowbrae Academy Corporate participated in the Home for Dinner Program with Ronald McDonald House Charities! Home for Dinner provides families who have children at the hospital with a delicious home cooked meal after a long day at the hospital. Ronald McDonald House Charities helps families with sick children stay together, and near the medical care they need through the Ronald McDonald House. Our spaghetti and meatballs meal with fresh pasta and homemade meatballs was such a hit we completely forgot to take photos of the final product! We look forward to volunteering again with our National Charity of choice Ronald McDonald House Charities!
