Each year is not without its highs and lows. It helps us become stronger, wiser, and more resilient. We've seen it before. Someone can be pushed to their edge. To a place they never thought possible, and yet they still come out the other side a new person. Stronger, wiser, and more resilient! May 2021 bring you continued growth, patience, peace, love, and a fresh start!... Your WCHC family #2021 #BCmidwives

This is our third year donating to SARA FOR WOMEN, but this year we're doing it a bit differently. In light of everyone trying to keep our communities safe by limiting social contact, we're asking that everyone donate online instead. This time of year, so many of you spoil us with gifts and although we are so so appreciative of your kind and thoughtful gestures, this year we ask that you donate to SARA FOR WOMEN instead.* Link in our bio * Did you know that this pandemic ha...s been linked to increasing domestic and gender-based violence? SARA FOR WOMEN offers temporary housing for women - alone or with children. Women and their children can stay for up to 30 days with food and basic necessities provided. You can click on the link in our bio to donate directly to SARA FOR WOMEN. In order to give some more incentive for our community to donate to this amazing organization, please see below for details on how you could win a $100 SAVE ON gift Certificate. Thank you to all those who donated to Sara for Women! Congratulations ERICA WALL, our winner of the $100 Save On gift card! Erica generously donated her handmade masks to us and our clients in the early days of Covid! Proof what goes around comes around! Thanks again Erica!

Wondering why we're so behind on posting our fabulous monthly names? From September until today our Midwives have been out catching around 50 babies! As well as navigating a health system during a pandemic! Can we get a high for all those sweet babies and their families as well as their devoted (and tired) midwives!?... *October & November names coming soon too

We love when clients share photos from their births with us - it’s great seeing our midwives in action! This was such a beautiful home birth and we are grateful to have been a part of it! . . : @kristenborelli_photography

We are so thrilled to announce that our wonderful midwife Ella gave birth to a perfect 6lbs 9oz baby girl at 01:26 on July 23, 2020. Leva (pronounced Leh-va) was guided into this world by Clio and Zoe, with the support of her husband Bobby. We could not be more happy for you Ella and Bobby, and we are so lucky to have been able to be a part of your beautiful journey to parenthood. Welcome to the world wee one! You are so loved.

Did you know that #BCMidwives have been regulated since 1998 (21 years) and we're the ONLY regulated health profession without any support for benefits, retirement or parental leave? BC Midwives are asking the NDP government for a fair and equitable deal. Follow the link in our bio to help! Thank you for your support!

West Coast Health Collective 24.08.2020

Thank you! Let's keep them coming!

Midwives deliver for BC families every.single.day! But access to midwifery care is already limited, and will get worse if the NDP doesn't act NOW! #midwivesdeliver... #deliverformidwives #BCMidwives See more

Today #BCMidwives return to the bargaining table with the BC Ministry of Health. Successive governments have left midwives behind - no benefits, no retirement s...ecurity, no help with overhead costs. The system is at a tipping point, with 1 in 3 midwives considering leaving the profession. Will this NDP government #DeliverForMidwives? It's urgent and necessary for there to be more Black midwives providing safe and supportive care to the Black birthing community. For this reason, the BIPOC Midwifery Collective from Ontario created the Ontario Black Midwifery Student Relief Fund to ease the financial burden of aspiring Black midwives. The majority of midwives in Canada are educated in Ontario, and Black aspiring midwives need our support in order to join our profession! ... For more information, and to donate if you are in a position to do so, please follow this link: https://www.gofundme.com/f/black-midwifery-student-fund We’re so grateful to work in such a supportive community, and hope you will join us in fighting racism in midwifery and birthing!
