Over the past few months, people have found themselves with more free time on their hands than ever before. And with that time, we have certainly craved new forms of entertainment, like TikTok, a destination for short-form video content that keeps you scrolling. But what makes TikTok so addictive? In short, it's the unique algorithm and use of artificial intelligence. Unlike Facebook, Twitter or Instagram, which propel publications based on the response of the immediate engagement (counted in terms of "likes" and comments), TikTok begins by analyzing the content of the publication. It analyzes the composition of the image, the soundtrack and the description accompanying the publication to match users with content that really interests them. As a PR and content agency, we're well educated on the important role of social media in our campaigns. The rise of social media has given content creators the ability to circumvent traditional gatekeepers and reach out to audiences all on their own. The democratization of content was rightfully celebrated as open social media platforms replaced closed off private publishers. But with this influx of free, and unchecked, information floating around, Facebook has long been aske...d to moderate its platform for false news and hateful content. Now, many companies have pulled their ad dollars from Facebook in an attempt to incite change. It's not the first time brands have boycotted social platforms to encourage improvement, but we're watching closely to see how this move will affect the future of the platform and its relationship to advertising.

CO-OP is proud to work with clients that continue to inspire us, and LesPAC is a perfect example. The Quebec-based online marketplace recently announced it's made a donation of $10,000 to the Tel-jeunes Foundation, a free frontline service providing counselors to young people and parents in Quebec. LesPAC also encourages its community to exchange mutual aid donations in their region by using the "community support" section of their website. We recently worked on a logo refresh for Green Gruff, a producer of CBD-infused pet treats with organic and sustainable ingredients. To help shape the design for this pet product, we drew inspiration from studying the shapes of different dog breeds. Check out the final result.
