Sometimes, missed gratitude opportunities slip past me in a busy day. And gratitude has so much to do with weight loss. It’s simple. If you don’t build the skill of enjoying and appreciating your life, your body and the healthy food you eat now, you won’t appreciate it when you lose weight. It is possible to lose huge amounts of weight and never quite feel that it enough or that your body is enough. And that sets you up for weight regain. The place to change that is to practi...ce building gratitude for yourself, your life, your body exactly as it is right now. And the bonus is that if you are feeling gratitude, it is really hard to feel stressed. It becomes simpler to follow your healthy eating plan when it comes from a place of gratitude rather than restriction and struggle. All those stressful daily moments become not a big deal when you build the skill of feeling grateful that you get to experience them. Ask me if I’m grateful for my life and family. Go ahead, ask me. My answer is Yes, of course.... Now ask me how much time I spend in my busy days and weeks actually feeling the gratitude. You would get one of those awkward pauses Uhhh.well.you see.. Sometimes in the hurry to get kids ready for school with all their winter gear intact (Where do all those gloves disappear to??) I forget to be grateful that I actually have kids. I didn’t always know I would. It’s easy when I’m judging the jiggly bits in the mirror to forget to be grateful that this jiggly body can run and has the strength to care for so many people in an average day. I’ve met many people who wish their bodies could still do these things. When my brain is craving indulgent food, I sometimes forget to be grateful for the fresh food in my fridge.
