I’m smiling and enjoying sitting in a fully organized, purged house. It’s taken me over 3 years to let go of some things and now it’s done. I did have some help for the final stage. I was very overwhelmed and anxiety was high. Of course I left what I considered the worst till the end. ... There is no shame in asking for help. It was well worth hiring someone who was a logical thinker and not attached to my stuff. In fact, I was able to sell my stuff and cover the cost. It’s well worth looking into getting some organizational help if you need it. Can you guess what’s in the jar. This was a timely find. It looks like rock sugar but in fact it’s Frankincense resin. I’ve been burning a wee bit every day. My house smells lovely. No more selling on local Facebook pages, donating or recycling for now. I can rest easy in my home. For a while anyway, although I’m already eyeing up a few things I could do without. I’ll be starting out the New Year with lots of space in my life. It felt so good to spend an afternoon of editing my clothing and organizing my sleep space. Seems I’m not so sentimental so it was very freeing to put items in black bags. I filled 2 bags and they now reside at the charity store. The closet editing is not done. I can promise shopping will be much more mindful and has been this past year. Now I won’t buy anything unless it’s a need. If something comes in, things have to leave. ... I’m working towards a more yogic lifestyle. The Yamas and Niyamas are great guidelines to work towards a brighter, more respectful, joyful life. Aparigraha or non-attachment is the last Yama in Patanjali's Eight Limbs of Yoga. It often translates to non-greed and non-attachment. The yamas are moral guidelines by which to live. Relevant to our relationship with ourselves, and the world around us. Niyamas are positive duties or observances. They are recommended activities and habits for healthy living, spiritual enlightenment and liberated state of existence. Here are some simple ways to practice saucha: Declutter: start with clearing and organising the desk at work, then look to declutter the whole house. Eat clean: look at what you put inside your body and bring pure and nutritious foods to the menu. Basement and second floor are done. Second floor will be done next. I over proofed overnight, but on the upside I’m getting a better handle on oven temperature. The temperature and humidity in the house is changing so I need to watch more closely. The process was a challenge this week. The starter took longer, I missed optimum on my first feed, second I watched more carefully. ... My gluten free starter, fed with buckwheat is nice and active. again slower though. My Monday bake is tasty and there was a decent rise during the 14 hr tin rest.
