Hello everyone! The EGSA will be offering Alumni Chats in the coming weeks. The intention will be to allow students to listen to stories of Western's alumni. The conversations will be driven by 1) Student curiosities about their professional future and 2) Alumni's reflections on life in the rear-view mirror. These semi-structured 1 hour meetings will take place virtually and on a monthly basis. Stay tuned for updates!

Attention 2nd year Masters Students, MENTORS NEEDED. With so many mentee applications, we are looking for 2nd year MA students to apply to the Mentorship program as Mentors. Please apply AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. ... Deadline is Nov. 6 at 11:59pm. Details regarding the Mentorship program are below. We have been working hard to restructure the Mentorship program to better address your needs. Not only does this program provide consultation between 1st and 2nd year masters students, but there is a merge with the PhD Mentorship program that allows open conversation from all participants. This program provides both mentorship and networking opportunities for students with similar interests and career paths. Mentors and mentees share their stories and talk about their current and previous experiences to guide through their current or prospective circumstances. How it works: Students who are interested must click google forms link in order to complete an entry profile (similar to LinkedIn): https://forms.gle/GsPD7dZoANCibU7Q7 Once the profile has been submitted, students will receive a ‘welcome’ email on OWL link with which one will have access using their Western credentials. Once all submissions are completed, profiles will be uploaded on OWL and mentees will be given the opportunity to choose a preferred mentor (THIS STEP IS OPTIONAL. NOT MANDATORY). Based on profile compatibility, mentors and mentees will be partnered up into groups of 2 to 3 mentors and mentees. DUE to COVID, mentors are not encouraged to meet their mentees in person but can be arranged between the mentor(s) and mentee(s) in their own time through Zoom. There will also be opportunities to network and contribute to EGSA social events that will be advertised by email to all Faculty of Education students. Join us for our first social event of the year - virtual EGSA Halloween celebration. The event will include a bake-off, Halloween cookies decorating, and pumpkin carving. We recognize that Halloween might not be celebrated by everyone, and we would like to extend non-Halloween themed baking too into our event. All you need to have is some baking ingredients of your choice like icing, sprinkles, pumpkin and pumpkin carving tools etc. The event is scheduled to be approx. two ho...urs long, and you are welcomed to bring your family, friends and partners to celebrate with us!
