Beaucoup d’amusement aux glissades du parc King George. Restons vigilant et respectons les mesures de prévention de la COVID-19 en gardant une distance de 2 m, ...en portant un masque et en évitant les rassemblements. Partons l'année 2021 du bon pas! Lots of fun at the King George Park toboggan runs. Don't forget to be vigilant and to respect the COVID-19 prevention measures by keeping a distance of 2 m, wearing a mask and avoiding gatherings. Let's start 2021 on the right foot!

They shall not grow old as we grow old. Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn... Last year today was the week of Chanukah when we celebrate the heroes and heroism of the Jewish people’s first war for national self-determination. It was a privilege and a pleasure to spend some time on this day last December with Westmounter Gerry Gross, an iconic Canadian hero of the Jewish people’s second struggle for self-determination, the State of Israel’s War of Independence.... Gerry led the famed Montreal Machalniks the Montreal Volunteers who went to fight for Israel just two years after the trauma and horror of WWII. He was in training in the Canadian Forces in southern Ontario at Camp Borden when the World War ended. Gerry and his boys served with the Haganah in the Givati 5th Brigade. He fought at Latrun as well as in the Altalena Incident where he refused to shoot at fellow Jews for which decision he was jailed by the British for a short time. Gerry was also a friend of Verdun’s fabled fighter ace George Buzz Buerling who died in a plane crash on his way to fight for Israel. At bottom right is a picture of some of Gerry’s Givati volunteers. See more
