It's that time of year again! We will once again be holding a Westmount Food Drive in support of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Christmas Program. Students and staff are encouraged to bring in canned goods during the month of December. Let's do some good for our community and make a positive impact!

Hey Westmount! As you know, next Friday is Black & Orange Day at school. Because we can't have outside snacks and treats brought in for any class parties, we are encouraging families to make a donation directly to the Food Bank instead! UPDATE: Students going out for lunch A number of students and parents have been asking about lunch permission forms and/or the ability for students to go out for lunch during the school day. The TVDSB is strongly recommending that students remain at school for lunch to minimize contact throughout the day. We know that this is an inconvenient change for many but we at Westmount want to prioritize student health and safety above all else. This is a new rule that requires not... only parent support to enforce, but optimal understanding as well as we all get used to navigating changes and new restrictions. Don’t forget to turn your clocks back one hour tonight before going to bed! Wouldn’t want you to miss out on an extra hour of sleep and end up one hour early for everything on Sunday!

Picking up students for an Early Departure? I have had a lot of questions about this process now, even after sending out an email about it so I am hoping that posting it here will answer some questions! With the school being closed to visitors/parents, the pick-up of a student for an Early Departure looks a bit different. Here is what we in the office would advise you to do:... 1. Report the Early Departure on SchoolMessenger 2. Call the school upon arrival (or close to) and we will send out/escort your child to the front door to come out and meet you 3. Students may NOT leave school property on their own (i.e. walking home or meeting parent at an alternate location) unless the parent has advised the teacher/office 4. The more notice you can give us, the better! Things can get crazy up here in the office so we would appreciate being aware of Early Departures by no later than 1:00pm. Dear Westmount Families, It is our goal here at Westmount to get the students outside as much as possible this year. Not only does this provide everyone with a mask break, it also gives everyone an opportunity for more exercise and fresh germ-free air! This may mean that students are outside on the not-so-nice days, so please be sure to check the forecast and send appropriate outdoor wear with your children. ... Whether the weather is nice or not, the students will be going out a lot!

REMINDER!! ONLY students with last names starting with L-Z are attending school tomorrow and Thursday. Students with last names A-K are home tomorrow and Thursday; then from Friday onward the whole school is back every day. Looking forward to welcoming the second half of our student body tomorrow for their first day!

FYI!! Parents, you can change your mind, but only up until this Friday at noon!

More information to come. We know that navigating the constant, last-minute changes can be tough and frustrating but we will get through this together!

We still aren’t completely sure how things will look at Westmount but it’s always good to be prepared!
