Whistler Housing Authority 30.12.2020

Presenting Lumina at 8350 Bear Paw Trail. This 20 unit apartment building was completed in late 2019. It is a senior's priority building, intended for Whistler’s senior employees and for seniors who have retired from Whistler's workforce. We appreciate the passion of the Mature Action Community and the advocacy work they do to ensure Whistler’s longest standing residents can age in place in their community.... WHA partnered with BC Housing for financial support for this new rental development. It is located steps from a bus stop and grocery store, and is in close proximity to the senior’s priority ownership building, Solana. (4/5)

Presenting Legacy Passive House at 1020 Legacy Way. This is a 24 unit Passive House apartment building completed in 2019. Passive House is the world’s best practice in environmental efficient design and this building has been featured internationally. The legacy of this building includes the energy and greenhouse gas emission reductions and the ongoing operational savings through the reduced energy costs of thoughtful Passive House construction.... WHA appreciates the support of the federal programs from Canada’s Rental Construction Financing initiative (RCFi) and the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC) Affordable Housing Innovation Fund. These programs support affordable rental housing projects in an effort to encourage a stable supply of affordable rental housing. It is home to approximately 50 Whistler employees in a mixture of studio, 1 & 2 bedroom apartments. Presenting Cloudburst Court at 1310 Cloudburst Drive. This 27 unit apartment building was completed in late 2017, consisting mainly of 2 bedroom units. It is located in Cheakamus Crossing and the WHA partnered with BC Housing to target low to moderate income earners as the first tenants. (2/5)

The WHA has named four of it’s newest rental buildings, and we’re excited to introduce them to you this week. Spoiler: Housey McHouseface didn’t make the cut. The four newest WHA buildings include a total of 116 units and will be home to approximately 264 residents in secure and affordable housing. This represents a 50% increase in the WHA’s rental inventory from 2017 through early 2021. (1/5)

What's new at the WHA? We are currently working with the WHA Rental Waitlist to fill 45 apartments in our newest employee rental building at 1330 Cloudburst Drive in Cheakamus Crossing. Occupancy expected for February 2021 for studio, 1BR, 2BR & 3BR units.
