Today we had our first Lyme positive case of the season! Scary part is the tick was found on them back in November! Ticks are still active if the weather is above 4! It has to be constantly below 4 before they aren’t active. It is so important that if you find a tick on your pet to give us a call and we can book them in 6-8weeks after it has been found for a 4Dx blood test because that is how long it takes for Lyme disease to show up on a blood test. Luckily it is treata...ble if caught early enough! Lyme disease effects either the kidneys, joints or both! We want to prevent irreversible kidney damage so please book in for a 4Dx in house blood test that takes 15 minutes to run! Not only does the 4Dx check for Lyme disease but it checks for Anaplasmosis, Ehrlichia (two other tick borne diseases) and Heartworm which is transmitted by mosquitos!

Hello Everyone, During the current COVID-19 pandemic, strong public measures are being enacted to reduce the spread of this disease. White Oaks Animal Hospital has put in restrictions to keep pet owners and staff safe. During this time we will be limiting appointments to emergency cases only. Elective surgeries such as neuters, mature spays and routine dental cleanings (exceptions being dental disease or fractured teeth) are being postponed until mid to end April, should thi...ngs start to get better. This is also protocol for all vaccination appointments. We are not vaccinating any pets that have received multiple rabies vaccines in the past. We are however administering puppy/kitten rabies. House calls are postponed until further notice along with boarding, daycare, grooming or other ancillary services. Food sales and medication refills will continue but will be maintained by social distancing. For these sales we would appreciate pre-payment by credit card over the phone, e-transfers, or tap. This limits the usage of our handheld payment machine. These restrictions may change based on changes in our understanding of this disease, messages from the government and regulators, and as this pandemic evolves. We all must understand this is a fluid situation and one where the goal is providing the optimal outcomes for our clients, their pets and our veterinary facility. We ask that you are honest with us when it comes to your travel history and we ask that you stay home should you be experiencing any symptoms. Sunday: Closed When you come for an appointment please either call or knock on the door.
