For over 72 years, the Windsor Light Music Theatre (WLMT) organization has been lighting up the local theatre scene with two full-scale musicals each year. Each musical production engages over 100 volunteers who share their time, talents and love of theatre, to showcase their skills on, off and under the stage. Thanks to our longstanding relationship with The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation and the City of Windsor, Windsor Light performs with a live full piece orchestra for each show with local musicians often pulled from members of the Windsor Symphony Orchestra. This partnership not only enhances the performances for our patrons, but it also reinvests those charitable funds back into the community to help support a strong and vibrant musical industry.

We end our look back at the last amazing 10 Years of WLMT with a bittersweet reflection on the show that never was, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, our Spring 2020 production of "Chicago!" The extremely talented cast were well into continuity and finally tuned choreographed numbers when the painful decision was made to cancel the production. The show would have featured a 1920s era band-stand on stage, an energetic, 'burlesque' styled blocking of scenes served with Vaudevillian... speed - aided by, what was to be, a well lit show! The oppression of Trunchbull nor her Chokey could keep the energy of this children-lead powerhouse for our final production of the 2019 Season, "Matilda!" The musical brings Roald Dahl's whimsical story of a magical little girl, and our WLMT members brought it to life beautifully on stage. The clever set and lighting design from our technical team allowed for magic to happen throughout the production, among many innovative dance numbers.
