The Sinis peninsula in Sardinia has been inhabited by many civilizations throughout the centuries, each leaving their own mark on the territory many of which are still visible to this day. The Nuragic civilization, which dates back to 800 years before Christ were one of the first to colonize the peninsula both with settlements and with large fortress towers known as Nuraghe built throughout the region. In 1977, famous statues from this civilization known as the "Giants of Mon...t'e Prama" were found and are on display today in the Civic Museum of Cabras. Carignano del Sulcis DOC is one of the most important and prestigious wine varieties of Sardinia.
