Traditionally, the Wongs Beneovlent Association would hold a national convention every few years, in which Wongs throughout Canada would gather for a reunion and discuss pressing matters for our clan. In normal circumstances, today would of marked the 11th Wongs National Convention here in Vancouver. Unfortunately we had to postpone it until a later date, but here are some photos of past conventions spanning from 1931-2018 to get a taste of what they were like. #chinatown #chinatownyvr

Although it may seems as though Chinatown clans are antique building and backward looking from the outside, they are actually very modern for the context of their time! If you want to learn more about Chinatown societies and buildings, take a look at this video from 2017 where John Atkin explains in depth the character and meanings behind historic buildings throughout Vancouver's Chinatown. https://www.youtube.com/watch
