We’re excited to announce that one of our community-based healthcare programs has been recognized in multiple categories of the Priority Health Innovation Challenge, led by the Canadian Foundation for Healthcare Improvement (CFHI). With so many caregivers experiencing emotional distress and uncertainty, Care for the Caregiver aims to support these individuals with mental wellness resources and regular check-ins with healthcare professionals, to ensure they feel heard, valued and connected. The program is designed for all essential family caregivers, whether they are caring for children, seniors, or any family member or friend. We’re grateful for the opportunity to showcase this program, and honoured to receive these innovation awards!

Diabetes increases the risk for many types of health complications, but the effects can be reduced with proper management and monitoring from caregivers. We offer programs and services to support Canadians who are dealing with #diabetes, and our nurses and therapists can help them through various means, from support programs to health monitoring. Today on #WorldDiabetesDay, we are celebrating our professional staff across the country who are helping people manage and cope with their diabetes. In the past six months, providing flexible care has taken on new meaning for both our clients and staff. With the end of summer, September usually brings a sense of excitement (and sometimes relief!) for those of us with kids. This year, that excitement is tempered somewhat by uncertainty and concern. While the road has been long, there are many things to be hopeful about. Read our CEOs message on the ways were continuing to be practical and prepared while remaining optimistic, and that starts with our dedication in supporting our staff at both work and home. https://www.cbi.ca/covid-19

Today is #WorldSuicidePreventionDay, a day that focuses on actions each of us can take to raise awareness of suicide and suicide prevention. This year has been particularly difficult for most, as the COVID Pandemic has affected our mental health in ways that we could not imagine. If you are in distress, please, don't be afraid to ask for help. Reach out to loved ones, or call your local distress centre or crisis organization. Never forget that you are not alone. https://bit.ly/32f9xL1

Being able to complete treatment virtually is making all the difference for our clients receiving care at home. In this Connected Care Story, our team delivered an accessible, flexible care program to one of our clients, a breast cancer survivor who was left feeling exhausted from her radiation and chemotherapy. With a longing to return to work and her family life, our team worked with her to rebuild her stamina and introduced her to an online group program to complete exercises together. As she moved through the program, she regained strength to spend time with her grandchildren again, and is now excited to be working with her healthcare team on a return to work plan. CBI Health continues to support clients across Canada throughout the pandemic, when and where they need it most. A new client was referred to us after suffering from anxiety after a car accident, which increased even more after experiencing social isolation when the pandemic hit. After transitioning from in-person treatment to virtual care, our team worked with her to navigate her feelings, encouraging her to write down her thoughts in between sessions. This acted as a new creative lens for her to express herself in a meaningful way and enabled her to better manage her anxiety. Read the story: https://www.cbi.ca/en/connected-covidpoem

As provinces begin easing pandemic restrictions, many Canadians have been going outside to get sunshine and exercise. Exercise is vital for good health, but you also need to make sure youre drinking water while youre in the sun. Adults need to drink more than eight glasses of water per day, so bring a bottle of water with you and drink plenty more at home to avoid dehydration and prevent heatstroke.

CBI Health is a proudly Canadian company. For Canada Day 2020, we reflect on our countrys response to the COVID-19 pandemic and our future with a distinctly humble sense of Canadian pride and optimism. The pandemic has affected every one of us. It has become a generationally defining period in our history and we are only at the beginning of this story. However, it has been heartening to see how the Canadian people have responded to this crisis. From coast to coast, there ...have been countless heartwarming stories of kindness, of neighbours helping neighbours, and a vast outpouring of support and love for frontline workers of all types. This is a defining moment for the world, for our country, and for each one of us. We should all appreciate the contribution our sacrifices have made to the greater good, and not let our commitment fade as we enter into a new phase. On Canada Day, and all days, we are proud to be Canadian. Read the full message from our CEO: http://ow.ly/ulEb30qV5Hb #CanadaDay #CanadaDay2020 #CanadaStrong
