While we hold steady for more details on the lockdown in the Niagara Region, we would like to thank you for sticking with us as we work hard to protect those we serve. We are doing all we can to keep the women and families at the YW safe. Everyone has an important role to play in reducing the spread of COVID-19. We are continuing with some safety restrictions at our shelters, including: - Restricting access to the shelter to our essential staff members and shelter guests. ... - No visitors are allowed at this time. - Only accepting donations between 8am-6pm. - Limiting the type of donations we’re able to receive at this time to essential items only which include food, PPE, and cleaning products (including hand sanitizer). If you have items to donate that are not listed above, please hold onto your donation until the lockdown period is lifted. We encourage those interested in giving to please consider making an online donation on our website. For more information about the changes to our in-kind donation policy during the lockdown, please visit: https://buff.ly/3pByBVt

Today is International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. Today, we recognize the pressing issue of violence against women and girls. This remains the most widespread human rights violation to this day. Violence can manifest itself in physical, sexual, and psychological forms. In 1933, the UN General Assembly issued the Declaration on the Elimination of Violence Against Women. Since, women continue to fight to achieve equality, development, peace as well as the fulfillment of their human rights. To learn more on ways to identify and prevent violence against women, visit the official website of the United Nations https://buff.ly/2Z3Ydgk
