Calling all Cadet Correspondents!! The Canadian Forces Newspapers Youth Reporter Competition gives young people like you a unique chance to tell your story in p...rint, online or on social media with the help of Canadian Forces Newspapers journalists, editors and photographers. It could be something that is relevant to your life, or that of your family and friends, or it could be something that affects the wider world we live in - but which your own experience or reporting of can offer a unique perspective. The story must be original and about an issue or a personal experience or insight which has not been widely reported about before and/or reflects the life of the contributor or their friends and/or family. You should state why you think you reporting the story or issue will bring a unique perspective to it, but also how you would widen your report to look at the issues around the subject. Stories will be judged on editorial merit - that means the strength of story, originality, and the personal story or background around it. Judges will be looking for a range of diverse stories from across the military community. The winner will receive a grand prize package and a scholarship! Today we would have started the overnight vigil. We all would have done our part to remember those who fought for us. Sacrificed their lives. Left their families behind to help fight for freedom. We have done this for many years and more years to come. In Flanders fields, the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row That mark our place, and in the sky... The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below We are the dead, short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow Loved, and were loved, and now we lie In Flanders fields In Flanders fields And now we lie In Flanders fields Take up our quarrel with the foe: To you from failing hands we throw The torch, be yours to hold it high If ye break faith with us who die We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields In Flanders fields We shall not sleep, though poppies grow In Flanders fields In Flanders fields Enjoy some pictures from the past years of all your hard work and dedication. We appreciate all of you and appreciate you understanding that we cannot do it this year.
