Dear Students, With the significant increase in confirmed cases of COVID-19 in recent days, we appreciate you may be feeling uneasy about possible cases at NBCC. We know that this is an unsettling time, particularly coming at the end of a very long year and when most of us would be looking forward to large gatherings with friends or visits to family. If you are feeling anxious or depressed, please access our Student Wellbeing resources found at https://nbcc.ca/student-service...s/counselling-wellbeing. We are here to support you. -? In the event of a confirmed case, Public Health takes the lead in notifying and providing guidance to anyone likely to have been exposed. NBCC will not be doing broader notifications outside of this. Public Health remains the official source of information on possible exposures, requirements for self-isolation or self-monitoring, and overall guidelines related to your zone. If at any time you become aware of information related to the health of a student or staff member, we know we can rely on you to respect the privacy of individuals. For our part, NBCC will continue to uphold the Public Health guidelines related to screening, masks, gatherings and physical distancing, and cleaning and sanitizing practices in the regions we serve. We urge each of you to do the same in all aspects of your life as well. ? In the event that your zone turns red, we will communicate detailed instructions, but in general, you can expect the following changes to NBCC operations: Active screening, with temperature checks, will resume. Security will maintain a record of all building occupants. Only students and staff supporting critical functions are permitted on site. Building access will be limited to the primary entrance during posted hours. Students can be onsite for practical training only, or for a pre-booked appointment. Community face masks must be worn at all times, except when eating or drinking. Over the coming days and weeks, members of our NBCC family may be dealing with illness, isolation, or anxiety. Please keep them in your thoughts and think of ways you might safely support one another. Compassion, cooperation, and determination have brought us this far; I'm asking you to dig just a little deeper as we head toward December. Take care, and stay healthy, Mary Butler, President and CEO NBCC
