Today is #TransgenderDayofRemembrance. Today and every day we hold space for all trans people who have lost their lives to anti-trans violence. We remember the Black trans women and femmes who have been overwhelmingly represented in this violence. And we honor those who are here and continue to fight for trans-rights and safety. . . Please visit https://tdor.co/ for helpful resources on reimagining a trans-inclusive world. .... #TransgenderDayofRemembrance #Tdor2020 #TDOR #LGBTQ2S+ See more

STATEMENT OF SOLIDARITY . . We, along with the communities we exist to serve across Ontario, continue to watch in horror and grief the events taking place south of our border over the last few days. And we are reminded that this deadly collision of race, power and rights is not restricted to the U.S: anti-Black racism is alive in Canada as well. .... . Our work responding to HIV in Ontario’s African, Caribbean and Black communities has us walking at the edge of the margins of our society on a daily basis. We see what racism and violence do to communities, to generations, and we denounce it vehemently. . . ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! . . We stand in solidarity with all those who are speaking out and are acting with hope and dignity. We are tired of praying that victims rest in power; we demand that all people of colour in our province and in our country LIVE IN POWER; it is overdue! ~ACCHO . . #blacklivesmatter #blacklivesmatter

On this World Kindness Day and Every Day, let us foster a better environment for ACB people living with or affected by HIV by showing LOVE , COMPASSION and KINDNESS. Remember, even if our efforts extend to just one person, they can have a wonderful reverberating effect on everyone. . On World Mental Health Day this year calling for greater investment and greater access many will pause to reflect. But reflection without action becomes a platitude. We reflect somberly on systemic flaws, now exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. And we reflect on the growing burden on ACB communities and the mental health outcomes that follow. But we also act: with stronger programming to respond to the growing mental health crisis, with heightened advocacy for equitable systems and services, and with renewed solidarity with community partners fighting this good fight. . How are you feeling? What are you thinking? What action will you take? . #blackmentalhealthmatters #worldmentalhealthday #worldmentalhealthday2020 #WMHD2020

2020 has been a year of trials and upheavals, but we know that #Gratitude opens up the human spirit and allows us to see the rays of light. We are humbled and #Thankful to be able to continue this important work with and for ACB communities across Ontario. We are grateful for our partners and our network who have worked incredibly hard to adapt their work during these times. . What are you grateful for? . #Thanksgiving2020 #Thanksgiving #Staysafe

We are inspired by the actions of different professional sectors in taking action against anti-Black and anti-Indigenous racism across Canada. We stand in solidarity with #ScholarStrike #scholarstrikecanada https://scholarstrikecanada.ca/
'As global research shows, HIV self-testing can make it easier to reach those who are undiagnosed. It lowers barriers for marginalized people, who are at a higher risk of acquiring HIV. It helps those who may have experienced stigma and discrimination in accessing traditional testing through the health care system.' Great read here: https://www.theglobeandmail.com//article-the-end-of-the-h/
As Black folks, we are in a state of collective grieving. During these times, self-care becomes more important than ever and yet many of our traditional supports are less accessible at this time. But together, we continue to find ways to support and uplift one another through our individual and collective self-care. Here are some of our favourite self-care resources and tools: @blackmentalhealthvisibility @wearetogetherall_ @taibu_chc @blackhealthcan @blackwomeninmotion @men...tor.whiwh @blackgirlfeels What are your go to self-care resources and tools? #TheCareCollective #blackselfcare
There are 2 types of dots that can appear on your INSTI HIV Self Test. 1) A 'control dot': appears on top and is built into your INSTI HIV Self Test. It will ...be visible if the test is done correctly. For example, if you use too much or too little blood, the control dot will not appear after you've poured the fluids onto the test device. Oops...you'll need to order another kit from GetaKit.ca because this one is invalid. 2) The 'test dot': appears on the bottom and only be visible if HIV antibodies are present in your blood. @prilaga #hivtest #ottawapride #getakit #insti #hivawareness #hivprevention #ottawaqueers #gayottawa #60seconds #myottawa #lancet #getakitca #myhealthmatters #ottawaliving #stophiv #healthyottawa #hivtesting #doitathome #translivesarehumanlives #stophivtogether #getakitottawa #kisswhoyouwant #stophivstigma #ottawalife #fingerprick #onedrop #fingerstickowl #knowyourstatus #ottawacity #ottawanurses via @preview.app
