We are pleased to announce that Registered Massage Therapist, Carol O'Connor will be joining our team on July 9th. She has been a Registered Massage Therapist since 2006. Carol can use a range of techniques to balance muscles in the areas around the shoulders, neck and pelvic joints, eliminate tension headache and lumbar spasm triggers. If you have trouble finding parking, there are several parking spots set aside for the public (2 free hours) in the lot marked CN (Caroline North) in this map. ... You enter off Alexandra Street, just off Caroline St. The spots are actually right next to our building (the side of the building that faces Caroline, with the little blue shutters & the "Seagram Distillers" sign). Also, a special reminder that as of Monday, the intersection of Caroline & Erb will be closed for 4 months. :( See more

Important ION construction information that will likely affect getting to the clinic: Caroline/Erb Intersection to Close May 16 for Four Months This is a reminder that GrandLinq will be fully closing the Caroline/Erb intersection in UpTown Waterloo for four months beginning May 16.... During this closure, the official detour for vehicle traffic will be: Westmount to University to King; and William to Regina to Erb Caroline, from Father David Bauer to Allen, will be open to two-way traffic during this closure. Additionally, both the King/William and King/Union intersections will be re-opened before the Caroline/Erb intersection closes. Access to the Waterloo Town Square North Lot will be available using Caroline. GrandLinq and the UpTown Waterloo BIA will be updating the Access Map for UpTown Waterloo with these changes. Once complete, the UpTown Waterloo BIA will circulate this to the membership. The Region of Waterloo will also circulate Grand River Transits (GRT) detour map, when its available to the UpTown Waterloo BIA for members. As with all closures, detour and way-finding signs for customers will be placed in and around UpTown Waterloo so that customers understand the best route for travelling to UpTown Waterloo. Intersection closures and an interactive map (updated daily) can also be found at: www.rideION.ca.

The University of Windsor have been working on research regarding the use of a dandelion extract as treatme...nt in terminal cancer cases (in the lab, the extract causes cancer cells to die, while leaving healthy cells alone). They have received the go ahead to conduct human clinical trials. See more

I am going to be open & honest about the fact that proton pump inhibitors (PPIs; heartburn medication) are one of (if not top on the list of) my least favourite... medications to encounter in patients. I'm not even content to list all of the negative things I see as "side effects" because they are a direct effect of the intended action of the medication. We need stomach acid to properly digest our food and to absorb & assimilate nutrients. What we're seeing now that people have been on them long enough to report is some fairly significant repercussions of not properly absorbing nutrients over years, even decades. Significant digestive upset - gas & bloating, IBS, SIBO, H Pylori infections. Bone loss & osteoporosis. And most recently the evidence is pointing in the direction of kidney disease and dementia. There are many alternatives to PPIs to get a handle on heartburn, including diet & lifestyle changes, weight loss, herbs, etc.

Awesome! Largest ever observational study to be conducted evaluating integrative treatment (naturopathic medicine and conventional medicine working together) for late stage cancer, thanks to a $3M grant from a (super awesome) anonymous private foundation. "A total of 400 people with advanced breast, colorectal, pancreatic and ovarian cancer will be studied in seven clinics across North America over three years. Each selected site provides comprehensive whole-person care in naturopathic oncology, applying science-based treatment for people with late stage cancer."

Naturopathic Medicine improves healthcare and reduces healthcare expenditures! A 2011 Innovative Research Survey of Ontarians found that individuals seeing naturopathic doctors reported the following changes in their use of health-care resources: 29% reduced their visits to hospitals 30% reduced their visits to specialists ... 42% reduced their visits to GPs 48% reduced their use of prescription medications See more
