Did you know the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development has revised the training requirements for Joint Health and Safety Certification? These changes came into effect on May 1, 2020. Under the new standard: After completing Part One, learners now have up to 12 months to complete Part Two. Learners who do not complete Part Two within 12 months are not allowed to take a JHSC Refresher. You will need to take Part One again.... Learners who completed Part One within the 6 months before May 1 2020 now have an additional 6 months to complete Part Two. Under the previous standard, if a learner did not complete Part Two within the required time period, a Refresher course could be taken to permit them to complete Part Two. This option is no longer available. We encourage participants to complete Part Two as soon as possible to avoid having to take their Part One training again. Please visit our website for upcoming course dates on JHSC Part One & Part Two www.acuteservices.com

Did you know the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development is giving certain workers in the contruction sector an extra year to renew their training if they work at heights? The extension will apply to workers who successfully completed their working-at-heights training between February 28 and August 31, 2017. The validity period, normally three years, would have ended this year. It will now end in 2021. While many training providers have either cancelled classes o...r shut down due to the COVID-19 outbreak, we have several Working At Heights Refresher courses scheduled in the coming weeks here at ACUTE. We have implemented measures to protect learners visiting the training facility. Sign up today to guarantee your spot! www.acuteservices.com #ACUTE #construction #workingatheights #extension

We are booking Joint Health & Safety Committee Part One and Two in our training centre. Part One is running from October 26-28th, 2020 Part Two is running from October 29-30th, 2020... Program Content A Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) is a committee of at least two people, who represent the workers and the employer at a workplace. Their primary role is to identify workplace health and safety hazards and bring them to the attention of the employer. This certification involves training in health and safety law, and the identification, assessment, and control of hazards. Standards for this training are set by the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) and the Chief Prevention Officers of the MLTSD also certifies JHSC members who complete approved training programs. Who should enroll in this training program? Section 9 of OHSA requires a JHSC at: Any workplace that regularly employs 20 or more workers; Construction projects expected to last three months or longer with 20 or more workers; Any workplace (other than a construction project) to which a designated substance regulation applies; Any workplace where an order has been issued under OHSA section 33, dealing with toxic substances; and Any workplace where the Minister of Labour orders one to be established. Workplaces with more than five but less than 20 workers are not usually required to have a JHSC. Instead, workers must select a person from among themselves to be a health and safety representative. The Occupational Health and Safety Act, Subsection 9(12) requires most workplaces with 20 or more workers to have at least one worker and one management person serve as certified members of a workplace Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC). Additional Information JHSC Certification Part 2 must be completed within a year of completing JHSC Certification Part 1 training.* A one-day refresher is required every three years to keep your JHSC Certification.
