Reconfirmation of the values and goals of Alpha O Beta Kappa Our sisters inspire ambition and believe that once an AOII, forever an AOII. Together, we stand behind and support the Panhellenic chapters on UBC campus at all times in an effort to promote sisterhood and love, the core principles of AOII BK. Our motto is Steadfast and Upright of Character which means we strive for and acknowledge that everything we do impacts and changes the world around us. Our purpose is to invoke this change in a positive, inspiring way. Together as sisters, we are working endlessly and lovingly to create a positive impact for all women and minorities. We love collaboration and hearing your thoughts! Any suggestions or good vibes, leave them below Character. Dignity. Scholarship. College Loyalty. #InspireAmbition. #JoinUBCSororities

#whyaoiiwednesday I joined AOII in my first year and it was the best decision I made coming into university. Talking to the girls through coffee dating, I fell in love with how friendly and welcoming they were! The girls are so inspirational in so many different ways that I was able to step out of my comfort zone to challenge myself to even take on an executive position in AOII. In the past two years, I made so many amazing memories with my sisters like dancing at songfest, trying out to become cheerleaders, and going on summer vacations together, and I cannot wait for more to come! We love you so much, Alisa!

letter from the president! Hello! My name is Kiera and I have the honour of serving as chapter president for AOII Beta Kappa! On behalf of our chapter, we are absolutely thrilled to meet you and introduce to you what makes AOII special and why it is our home away from home. During these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever to have an empowering, positive support system. I believe more than ever, that AOII can be this for you!! This is my 4th year in AOII, and I’ve learned how to become a better friend, leader, grow my love of academics and become the best version of myself. The women who I call my sisters are all inspiring, intelligent and ambitious. I hope you #joinubcsororities and find your home like I did with the beautiful women of this chapter

Amy and I met in grade 7 and the rest is history! Since that first day in 2010, we have travelled the world together, went to the same university, lived together, and joined AOII together. I truly don’t know life without her and am thankful that we’ve grown together and not apart over the last 10 years We are so grateful to have these two as sisters

Alpha Omicron Pi’s motto is Inspire Ambition. To embody our motto and core values, we cannot be silent against the harsh realities of violence and injustice the black community faces every day. We cannot stand by seeing tragedy after tragedy. The Beta Kappa chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi will not be silent, and we condemn the murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery and countless other Black Lives lost at the hands of police brutality and systemic racism. But condemning these ...acts is not enough, we must also acknowledge our privilege. Our sorority continues to operate in predominantly white spaces, as does the Greek System. Many of our sisters are free to go for a run (Ahmaud Arbery), play cops and robbers (Tamir Rice), or relax in the comfort of their own home (Botham Jean & Atatiana Jefferson) they can live and breathe in peace (George Floyd). White people are rarely the victims in stories like Regis Korchinski-Paquet’s, whose death is still under investigation by the SIU. Each of these tragedies is a grim reminder of our moral obligations to the black community. Privilege must be used to amplify the voices of the silenced - the voices of the oppressed. AOII was founded as a rejection of prejudice and discrimination. AOII fundamentally values diversity and radical acceptance regardless of religion, colour, ethnicity, or sexual orientation. We will not be silent while others are wronged. We must work for a better system, confront internalized prejudice and be actively anti-racist. We must work for justice instead of just calling for peace. Black Lives Matter.
