How does the client feel about being asked lots of good questions about their needs? It feels like it is all about them. Because it is!

A flood of technical terms and jargon are like another language. If they don't understand it, it can't have any value to the client.

When you are at a networking event focus on the other people you meet 1st. Ask questions to learn their story. It's amazing how much more interested they'll be in you.

Using industry jargon only serves to confuse your clients. Last time I checked, confusing people you're selling to is not the objective.
