We did it! We’re proof that anything is possible with resiliency and determination. A group of our Commercial Dance students with Associate Director Derek San...gster are celebrating the completion of their program. We completed courses, created new works, filmed our final production, successfully conducted assessments and even got a photo shoot in! Yes - attained all this while following all the strictest and safest COVID protocols. We are extremely sad to hear that Dancemakers will be closing permanently in July 2021. Dance artist Natasha Powel will lead the company through its final season of programming. Launched in April 1974 as a co-operative, Dancemakers was originally planned to be a one-time project. York University dance graduates, Marcy Radler & Andréa Ciel Smith were the leaders of this new platform for local dance talent that went on to become a noted modern dance company with eclectic works showcasing Canadian choreography. Dancemakers is a part of Canadian dance history and it will be a huge loss within our arts community.
