Bamfield Fishing Report 01.12.2020

Been fishing the past few days with good success. The inside fishery has been a bit of a grind but if you put in your time there are some nice fish to be had. Beal and whittlestone have been producing as well as Austin and Mears. The weather offshore is finally settled down and the fishing has been very good for all species. The Chinook were a little tougher today but just a small blip. The coho are ridiculous thick. Very hard to get gear down deep for Chinook and halibut but the action is insane. Coho finning all over the surface and biting whatever you put out.

Fished Wed and Thursday offshore and although it was pretty nasty on wed the fishing was pretty ripper. It was also the first day we were allowed to retain spring salmon on the outer banks and there was lots to go around. Thursday was good as well but but quite as many bites as the previous day. I didn’t fish the past couple days but Trevor from No Bananas told me that today was good again for all species. It’s been hard to keep the Halibut off the troll gear while Chinook fishing there are so many of them out there. Your hands will get sore releasing halibut all morning The inside spots should start turning on again soon with a solid run of springs expected in the Robertson Creek.

Bamfield Fishing Report 02.11.2020

Just finished a 3 day trip for my good friends at Eagle Nook Resort. Fishing on the inside has been a bit of a grind lately but there have been some nice fish coming in to the local tables. There was a 31 brought in yesterday and I also see that Ken at Rocky point got one the same at 31 pounds. Trevor at No Bananas killed a 30 and a 28 on the same morning a couple of days ago. Well done boys. Those are nice fish and few and far between these days. When you can get out to th...e bank there are plenty of coho around to keep you busy but you need to be aware of all the Chinook out there as well that you aren’t allowed to keep at this time until July 15 so you find yourself releasing quite a few nice fish. The halibut fishing has been pretty consistent still with all the usual spots producing some nice fish. The wave of nice fish that rolled through the sound a few weeks ago seems to be pretty tight lipped right now but look for that to change over the next week or so but if you put in your time there is still some decent fishing to be had. Best of luck. See more

So I haven’t been on the water much this season until the last week or so but it has been pretty consistent on the inside with some real nice fish showing up. All the usual spots have been paying off. Mears Austin Cree Kirby and Beal etc. The boys that have been venturing offshore for halibut were doing real well although the past few days have been hit or miss. Your either in them or your not. Look for this to improve as the tides slow down over next few days. The past few days salmon fishing has been gang busters so tie up some fresh leaders and get after it

I haven’t been reporting much because I haven’t been fishing. JP has been running my boat this season and killing it but it leaves me out of the loop a little bit as to where the actions at. (He’s pretty secretive ). Anyway it’s been a killer season so far. The Robertson Creek fish are definitely in the sound now and the bite has been pretty steady at all the regular haunts. I will be taking over the reins again after the 25th as JP is getting married (sorry ladies) and is stepping down for the remainder of the summer. Will try and keep the page more up to date. Also keep an eye on our Bamfield Sportfishing page. Tight lines, and good luck out there
