10 years ago Vlaams Canadese Vriendenkring put on an exhibit in Belgium telling the story of how "Students picked tobacco for Flemish-Canadian farmers". Photos from this exhibit, mostly local ones on farms from the 1960s and 1970s, are being shared regularly in this album. You'll even find an old photo of our hall along with a membership card from 1972!

In part two of the 1975 Flemish television episode about Belgian student workers on the tobacco farms of Flemish emigrants we see a social gathering for both of those groups in our hall (at 3:17) where they sing Flemish songs.

For over 30 years, students from Belgium would arrive at our hall on their way to work on local tobacco farms of Flemish emigrants. This was arranged by the organization België in de Wereld (BIW), renamed in 1976 to Vlamingen in de Wereld / VIW. Here is part one of a 1975 segment from the Flemish Radio and Television Broadcaster (now VRT) on the occasion of the 10th year of this arrangement. The segment is in Flemish and starts out showing scenes from Delhi and local farms.
