The Neowise Comet streaks toward a thunderstorm as seen from the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary. If you can find a spot that is dark enough to see stars, th...e comet is surprisingly bright and visible without binoculars or telescope. In Belize it is also quite high in the sky around 7:15pm. Look to the Northwest; make a fist; turn your fist so the back of your hand faces right; stretch your arm out and the comet is two fists above the horizon. As night settles, the comet will first appear as a light smudge, gradually morphing into a comet. Don’t look directly at it, your best night vision is achieved by looking a little to the side of it. You’ll have an hour of viewing if the clouds stay away. Scientist think the comet will slowly fade over the next week as it journeys out of our solar system. Thanks to Belize Audubon Executive Director Amanda Acosta, Chief ranger Nicasio Coc and his team for facilitating this photo. #belize #comet #neowise #cbws #cockscombbasin #belizeaudubon #thisisyourbelize See more
