This is known as the Yankee Drummer. When the motor is wound, the drummer's arms go up and down playing his drum. These figures were produced from the 1930s to the 1950s, except during the Second World War. Most tin toys were replaced by plastic in the 1960's. #MuseumMonday

At 12 years old, Frank Rose of Burnaby and Gordon Loutet of Lake Cowichan exchanged this Christmas card in 1929. The two friends and their families continued the exchange for 74 years, until 2003. The exchange was uninterrupted, even during WWll and the card was never lost in the mail. In 1991, the card received international recognition in the Guinness Book of World Records. The card is now preserved in the Museum’s collection. #MuseumMonday

The Christmas tree in the Love Farmhouse has been decorated with historically accurate decorations, like handmade paper chains, snowflakes and cornucopia. The cornucopia is a symbol of abundance illustrated using a goat's horn overflowing with flowers, fruits and vegetables. These traditional decorations were hung from the branches of Christmas trees and sometimes given as gifts. Try your hand at making your own cornucopia or one of the other crafts on Burnaby Village Museum's Christmas activities page. #MuseumMonday http://ow.ly/sXC150CGkq2
