After spending several years with CFMR, Karla Mukai is leaving to join the Department of Justice. Since starting here in 2014, Karla has made a lasting and positive impact on her clients and colleagues, and in the community as a volunteer. We have no doubt she will do the same in her new role at the Department of Justice. We wish Karla every success. She will be missed.

CFMR is pleased to welcome Donald (Don) Boyle to the firm as Associate Counsel. After practicing as both barrister and solicitor in Richmond since 1982, Don brings a wealth of experience to CFMR business clients. Along with his proven skills and expertise, Don is known for his well-honed legal perspectives and understanding. He is adept at recognizing and avoiding potential areas of dispute before they arise. He believes strongly in the importance of well drafted agreements..., often saying that good agreements are upheld in the courtroom, but superior agreements avoid the courtroom altogether. And his formidable ability to quickly understand complex business transactions consistently leads to favourable results. In addition to his practice, Don has been a member of several corporate and charitable boards. For nine years he has served on the board of a society that helps people with developmental disabilities thrive in their own communities. Welcome to CFMR, Don.

Say NO to Injury Caps in BC! The current BC government is seriously contemplating bringing in legislative changes to ICBC auto insurance that will limit damages recoverable for injuries suffered by victims of negligent drivers. The effect of this is that good drivers will be paying for bad drivers. This is wrong. We encourage all of you to sign the petition directed to Premier Horgan and Attorney General Eby to let them know you are opposed to such a change. The process is... extremely easy, and will take a minute or less: - Go to https://roadbc.ca - Click on Sign the petition - Enter your name, email and postal code. - Click Sign now - And share with your friends by clicking on the Facebook and Twitter links. Very straightforward. Such petitions are only effective if they get the numbers. The more people who sign this petition, the better. The legislature reconvenes on FEBRUARY 13 and they have indicated that this is high on their priority list. Send a message to government and ICBC, and Say no to injury caps in BC!

Instead of making bad drivers pay for the injuries they cause, the BC government’s proposed caps make victims pay. More information can be found at R.O.A.D.B.C’s website: https://roadbc.ca/ .

Every donation, no matter how large or small, contributes to the Christmas Fund’s success... in helping seniors, families and children in our community. Please note that while your donation supports the Richmond Christmas Fund, your tax receipt will be issued by the Chimp: Charitable Impact Foundation, which is itself a registered charity.
