Rats are in practically every part of the world and have expertly learned to live alongside humans. In fact some species rely completely on humans and their garbage for survival. They are excellent swimmers, some species can tread water for 3 days and hold their breath for 3 minutes. They can make their way up sewer piping and into toilets. They can have as many as 12 babies every 30 days. The have teeth that never stop growing and can chew through soft concrete, wood, plastic, aluminum, and cinder blocks. They can carry and spread more than 35 different types of disease.
