First let me tell you from my own personal experience you never want to break a bone later in your life it changes everything and it will also test you on how resilient you are. We all should know no matter what your age is it will change you and how you live each day. Having great support of a great family or a support worker, if they offer except their help. I recently having been sourcing support for an individual who broke a limb at a much older age and let know tell you it is not an easy task for them to suddenly loose their own independence and know they will probably need help for a long time. Patience and Empathy will be the best assistance we can provide them through that difficult journey .

Recently i have had conversations with clients which has made me reflex on previous conversations that I have had with my own mom. after having some of the most difficult questions and conversations when the clock is ticking for her, in hind sight that conversation could have been part of her living too. Allowing them to choose them their own wishes and desires and how they see their own ending when the inevitable does happens. I see this conversation a source of inside information no matter what your age is to which can help direct us in the most difficult situations and decisions we may have to be involved with. Being part of someone ending is an honour and privilege but knowing what their wishes are is so much more important. Be involved and informed while we are all still here .

Seniors' advocacy organizations are reminding people to take time out of their busy holiday schedules to visit seniors in their homes. Spending as little as an hour with a senior living alone or in care over Christmas can help mitigate serious health effects caused by loneliness and social isolation, says the B.C. Care Providers Association. "This is truly a special time of the year for so many people," "But research has shown it can also be a lonely time too especially f...or seniors. That's why it's so important if you have a loved one living in a care home or receiving care at home, you set aside some time to visit them over the holidays." The organization said social isolation and loneliness are associated with a higher risk of mortality for people 52 and older a problem it said is likely to get worse with an aging population. A Statistics Canada report based on findings from 2008 to 2009 found that more than one-fifth of seniors wanted to be more involved in social activities. Seniors living alone "It's not like it was in the old days where your neighbour would kind of watch out for you," "It's more like you're in an apartment building with 160 other people who don't know you and don't really make an effort to know you." Lets make a supportive change and look out for those people whether it be your family or friends Happy Holidays ,
