Mother Bear by Trevor Husband Limited edition screen print; edition of 66 Available at www.cedarhilllonghouse.ca... In the design the central figure, Mother Bear, symbolizes Mother Earth, who is mother to all creatures. She is holding a human figure, denoting the interconnectedness of all species. This print is based on a large carving by Trevor Husband, titled "Mother Bear and Her Four Cubs". Mother Bear gave birth to four cubs, each different in colour and representing a different race. As the cubs grew, there wasnt enough food for all of them, so Mother Bear sent them each to a different corner of the world to establish their own territories. Much later, as the cubs, now adult bears, crossed paths again, they didnt remember that they once had been brothers. Fighting ensued between them. This caused Mother Bear to weep for how we all treat one another. #cedarhilllonghouse #firstnations #nativeamerican #northwestcoast #firstnationsart #nativeart #aboriginalart #northwestcoastart #northwestcoastnativeart #contemporaryart #natureart #interiordesign #artforyourhome #homesweethome #inspiration #canada #britishcolumbia #vancouverisland #victoriabc #gitxsan #bear #humanity #onerace

New release! Hummingbird and Sun by Joe Wilson Limited edition screen print; edition of 95... Available at www.cedarhilllonghouse.ca To the First Nations of the Northwest coast, the hummingbird is a messenger of joy. They are good omens and symbols for intelligence, beauty, devotion, and love. The hummingbird derives its name from the sound the wings make when the bird is in flight, or hovering. The wings flap at a rate of up to 80 times per second, depending on the species. They are the smallest of all birds. #cedarhilllonghouse #firstnationsart #nativeamerican #nativeamericanart #northwestcoastart #nativeart #nativeartprint #indigenousart #contemporaryart #natureart #interiordesign #homesweethome #artforyourhome #inspiration #spiritual #canada #britishcolumbia #vancouverisland #victoriabc #hummingbird
