We have been so fortunate to have been included in this fantastic partnership. Led by Parkdale Food Centre and the Ottawa Community Food Partnership, CFACO tackles food insecurity by partnering local restaurants affected by COVID-19 closures with social service agencies to provide good meals for those in need. They have been a vital resource for helping providing delicious and nutritious meals throughout the ongoing pandemic.
Centre 454 will be closed Monday, February 15th for Family Day. We will see you Tuesday February 16th our regular hours and services. Thank You!
Do you know what is in this picture? Generosity and hope! Islamic Relief Canada and their volunteers have provided our community with much needed sweaters, cold weather gear and hygiene supplies sorely needed by our community. These supplies will go a long way to helping provide some relief during the ongoing pandemic.... On behalf of our community, staff and management, thank you for your ongoing support!! #choosehope
St Luke’s needs our help collecting donations of warm winter gloves! Please share, or contact us for how to donate.
Usually when you have a rodent problem in your building, they’re not this adorable! Silvia on the ODSP team isn’t letting covid break her Halloween spirit! Happy Halloween everyone, and remember to stay safe tomorrow if you’re out and around!
Earlier this month tenants from Manor Village in Nepean reach out to ACORN wanting to organize with their neighbours because city staff are recommending that the City expropriate the land at Woodroffe/Majestic, demolish 120 residential townhomes and evict 300+ low income/working class tenants to make way for the future Knoxdale LRT station. Tenants desperately don't want to leave their homes, many are multigenerational households with deep roots in the community and most are... on assistance or working low wage jobs - they can't afford the new rental prices on the market (most pay $1,100-$1,300/month for 2-3 bedroom townhomes which would now go for double that price!). Transportation Committee is voting on these staff recommendations on Monday, November 2nd!! Please Support this community! We need to ensure that City Council prioritizes tenants' right to housing when planning Stage 3 LRT and the only way we can do that is if we have a lot of people echoing tenants' concerns. There's power in numbers!
