Voting Day is here

Cheryl Ashlie for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows 23.10.2020

10:45 pm on the night before the election and I have attended to all of the business that my final day on the campaign trail requires. All social media will be shut down at 11:59pm. And tomorrow the final votes will be cast. If you get a chance to read this post before then, thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of my supporters, and to those who do not support me, thank you for challenging me to be an even better candidate. You have all participated in democracy and we are truly blessed to be able to take it for granted. I am proud of my team and I am feeling exceptionally blessed. Thank you. We turn it over to the voters now.

The darkness has shut down my final run at door knocking to identify votes. I was told that I had to be on the phones today, but my campaign manager caved in to my request to spend a couple of hours door knocking, as the face to face with people is what drives me to keep going. Tomorrow I will be reaching out to you on the phones to ensure you vote and I might even show up on your doorstep to ask you. Please be patient with my team if they phone you and you have voted, as the...y are only trying to get me elected. If you have already voted for me--thank you!! If you are voting tomorrow, please follow through. And if you think someone needs to be encouraged to follow through on a vote for me, please consider asking them to reach out to me through an email to [email protected], as Facebook will be shut down at midnight. Thank you everyone! It continues to be an amazing experience! See more

Just one more day having to put up with the relentless attacks. Just makes me work harder! See you on the doorsteps!

CAMPAIGN RECAP Friday, October 23 As per the Election Act rules, this will be the last day that I will be able to communicate with the voters of Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows in print. I will, however, be phoning as many undecided voters as possible because this race to the finish is very close. I am pleased to have this opportunity to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who voted for me already and, in this final push, I hope to convince the many undecided voters and remaining... BC Liberal voters to give me their support as well. The BC Liberal Platform does significantly favour and impact the communities of Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows, and I was pleased to see that a lot of my ideas and feedback have helped to make that happen. People here have often told me they want choice when it comes to their auto insurance. ICBC is a 47 year old monopoly with mediocre service and high rates, and too much control. We say it's time for a change and our announced change will end that monopoly. People need more money in their pockets, which is why I am supporting the elimination of PST for a year while we navigate through COVID. And much more! Better support for seniors and public safety will also be priorities for us. 4-Pillared approach to addiction and proper supports for people living with mental health challenges. We are all too familiar with the colossal failure of housing and care policies and programs for the ever-increasing numbers of people in our communities who need help. The NDP say tent cities are okay! The NDP say providing a roof over people's head is good enough! The NDP say it's the City's problem to solve. Their approach to governance over the past 3 years has been astounding to me, especially with regard to how they have not cared how it has impacted our communities and the people in need. Commitments for projects in Maple Ridge and Pitt Meadows include: build new affordable housing and build the Lougheed Highway/Harris Road interchange, correct the bottleneck on Golden Ears Way from 210 to the mouth of the Golden Ears Bridge, Abernathy extension from 232nd to 240th and the 240th Silver Valley Bridge, upgrades to mental health beds, schools and much more will be my priority. Honesty, trust and hard work describe me best. I can promise you that my track record in public service, work experience and community volunteerism will drive me to work hard for you every single day. Again, thank you for listening and thank you for voting. I feel ready and I AM ready to serve as the next MLA for Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows, and I hope I can count on your support on October 24.
