#Repost @diamondcrescent This upcoming Friday may be commonly known as Black Friday, but we're calling it Bright Friday! Why? Our current COVID pandemic has really cut down on the places we can go for fun outings, so we've decided to open this Friday, November 27 rather than usual 1st of December to give perhaps stir-crazy Chilliwack residents a change of scenery. What a convenient way for your household's bubble to get some entertainment while staying inside your vehicle...'s metal and glass bubble! Our show is better than ever this year, except for one thing: no candy canes. Sorry, but we're trying to keep things as safe as possible for you. We're still taking donations in our cash box, or you can donate online and contact-free to @ChwkFireCharity. Every year, at the eleventh hour on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we gather to stand in honour of all the men and women who have fallen. Together, we take a moment of silence to mark the sacrifice of the men and women who have fallen while serving their country, and to acknowledge the courage of those who still serve. Due to current provincial health guidelines, there will be no formal processions in Chilliwack, and we respectfully ask that you help keep our vetera...ns safe by staying home and watching a virtual ceremony this year. Stay safe everyone. Friendly reminder to SLOW DOWN This school year may look a little different but the rules remain the same. Obey speed limits in school zones. Watch for kids on the roadway and do not pass a stopped school bus. Let's keep our kids and community safe! #staysafe #firstdayofschool #schoolzone #besafe #cityofchilliwack #schooldistrict33 #chilliwack #drivesafe

Something we get asked a lot as firefighters is "how much does all of that stuff weigh". The answers can vary, but once you get the turnout gear, boots, gloves, SCBA (self-contained breathing apparatus), mask helmet and tools on and ready to go, a firefighter can carry up to an extra 80 lbs with them. Firefighter Kevin Sexsmith has been with the Chilliwack Fire Department for 6 years, currently serving out of Hall 4 and is one of our CISM directors. Kevin is modeling for us... to show just what it takes to stay healthy, fit and ready to carry the equipment necessary to fight fires and serve our community. Thank you @ff_sexsmith for your service #proudlyservingourcommunity #chilliwackfiredepartment #firefighter #chilliwack #canadianfirefighters #firetruck #stayfit #stayhealthy #publiceducation

Today the Chilliwack Fire Dept. Did a cheque presentation for $4000.00 to the @bcburnfund This year Burn Camp is cancelled but they still wanted to do something fun with the kids. We got together with Keria McKenzie again this year to shoot a video. The kids are going to watch all of them and vote for the best one. Keria has gone to camp for the last 2 years she had a serious burn that almost took her life. We joined forces with her last year and raised $12,000.00 last year to send kids to Burn Camp. @ Chilliwack Fire Department
