Coastal Tarsands

Alberta Tarsands are using the most destructive way to extract oil on the planet: destroying Boreal forest ecosystem, removing topsoil, digging deep into the upper crust of the earth, using massive amount of electricity to separate oil from sand, burning off impurities and dumping them into the atmosphere, using a mix of chemicals to extract oil, flushing excess toxic waste into rivers/lakes/natural water systems, using equal parts condensate natural gas imported from Asia to create Diluted Bitumen (Dilbit) with bitumen so it can flow down pipelines/railways/highways... this Dilbit is then shipped to foreign markets to refine further refine by offing impurities into atmosphere

The Coast of British Columbia Coast is over 25,725 kilometres long and Diluted Bitumen sinks when water is agitated by wind, currents, or storms. Northern Gateway was set aside in favour of Trans Mountain Pipeline but if this pipeline is allowed to proceed it will triple the number of Tarsands Tankers to BC. The fact that seems to remain hidden is that Tankers carrying Condensate to dilute Alberta Bitumen will have to increase along with the number of trains to carry this solvent to the Tarsands. Least we forget when Justin and new owners (Canada) of the Trans Mountain pipeline push through the upgrade to push Tarsands Oil to the westcoast in the middle of the largest population in BC..... spillls happen.... even here!

BC Voters spoke loudly against the KinderMorgan Pipeline, known as Trans Mountain Pipeline since the Trudeau Liberal Government bought it with taxpayer's money! It's time to remind the BC government who elected them and how they need to move forward to stop this pipeline.

The co-founder and executive chairman of Kinder Morgan Inc., Richard Kinder was also the founder and CEO for ENRON which was found guilty of fraud when it falsely expanded its revenues from $5.7 billion in 1991 to $13.3 billion in 1996. Enron declared bankrupcy in 2001 after it was discovered to practice questionable accounting methods leading to scandal that brought Wall Street to its knees! Today Kinder Morgan is the largest midstream energy company in North America and PM Justine Trudeau and Alberta Premier Rachel Notley want to give this company Billions of Taxpayer's dollars???

As much as the Prime Minister, Alberta's Premier, and Kinder Morgan try to focus their frustration on the BC Government, the reality is that there is very strong opposition from Indigenous Leaders who have not signed treaties nor been reconciled by the Federal Government.

Thursday August 10 BC Environment and Climate Change Strategy Minister George Heyman stated; Our government made it clear that a seven-fold increase in heavy oil tankers in the Vancouver harbour is not in B.C.s best interests. Not for our economy, our environment, or thousands of existing jobs. We will use all available tools to protect our coastal waters and our provinces future. The New Minority BC Provincial Government is seeking intervenor status for federal court battle starting this fall against the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion. However, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau's approval for the Texas based corportation means the project will break ground next month (actually lots of work has already begun) Send messages to BC NDP, BC Green Party to express you opposition to the Kinder Morgan Pipeline!

A spill is a spill... this one's bad yet salmon farm claims they will clean it all up... this damage can never be truly cleaned up... when will the media, government, industries, and people get the message that Oil and Water don't mix!

While reporting all the approvals by federal and provincial governments for pipelines mainstream media constantly shows images of 'pump jacks' when reporting on stories about the Alberta Oil Sands? They are not related ways of extracting bitumen from the earth!

The goal of this media project has been achieved today when the Prime MInister announced that the Enbridge Corporation's Northern Gateway Pipeline will not proceed. Justine Trudeau also announced that he would make law of the moratorium banning crude oil marine tankers from BC's North Coast. However, he approved Kinder Morgan's expansion of the Trans Mountain pipeline to the Port in Burnaby, BC which will increase marine traffic in Burrard Inlet by 13% while tripling the export of Tarsands Bitumen. The contention by Trudeau that pipelines are safer than railways does not reflect the fact that Alberta Tarsands needs to be diluted with Condensate Natural Gas, which is imported from Asia and loaded onto railway tankers and transported to northern Alberta. This is a major omission that needs to be addresses.

Despite assurances from Justin and his team spills happen all the time, even in the lower mainland. Least we forget that oil spills are part of the reality of pipelines and supertankers which the industry simply factors into their bottom line. Today's NEB recommendation that the Kinder Morgan pipeline is in Canada's "public interest" is not based upon proper consultation, and does not reflect the true costs of the pipeline. First Nations and BC communities still say NO to the Kinder Morgan proposal. #StopKM #KinderMorgan

At the base of Burnaby Mountain in the heart of Greater Vancouver... where the tides act like a razor's edge as tankers pass below the 2nd Narrows & Lion's Gate Bridge through English Bay then out into the Salish Sea and past the capital city of Victoria to weave around reefs in the Juan De Fuca Straight so that the dirtiest oil in the world can reach China and other foreign markets. Don't let Trudeau's government triple the capacity of this pipeline through 3 mountain ranges.

Enbridge has requested a three-year extension on its federal certificates for the Northern Gateway pipelines and tankers project. Now is the time for the federal government to stick to its commitment and put an end to this project once and for all. However the public still needs to know what the entire BC coast faces from SuperTankers loaded with Albertas Tarsands. This film and the discussion afterwards will look at this reality.

What a smart move for Christie Clark's Liberals, this way the public pressure will be off until the BC government follows through with "Kinder Morgan" has met all conditions and the project is now fully approved. Everything will be A-OK! KEEP UP THE PRESSURE!
