Concord Oral Surgery 30.10.2020

Thank you to the team at Claronav for being part of our evening seminar on guided dental implant surgery. Dr. Ido Bermanis, Jason Pardo and Darrell Cook demonstrated Navident in action and dentists lined up to try it for themselves. Dr. Robert Barron spoke about the surgical pros and cons of guided implant surgery while Anisha Singh of Canaray spoke about the benefits of various surgical stents. The event was held at Rosa's Place in Vaughan where we were treated to a delicous Italian dinner! Thanks to everyone who came out and made our event a huge success!

Dr. Robert P. Barron, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon of Concord Oral Surgery in Vaughan is now offering Botox injections for the treatment of muscle contracture headaches and pain pertaining to temporo-mandibular joint dysfunction. Botox belongs to a class of drugs called botulinum toxins, which derive from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. Strange as it sounds, this is actually a very similar source of many common medicines, such as penicillin and other antibiotics, whic...h derive from mould. Although there are seven different types of botulinum toxin (A, B, C1, D, E, F, and G), most of the research conducted to date has focused on type Acalled BTX-A, manufactured as Botox. The bacterium produces a protein that blocks the release of acetylcholine, which normally transmits messages from the nerves to the muscles to make them contract and move. Once transmission has been blocked, muscles relax, providing relief to patients with overactive muscles, reducing spasms and pain. The effect is completely reversible and generally lasts for a few months in most clinical uses. TMD symptoms include: pain and tenderness in or around the ear, jaw joint pain in the muscles of the jaw, face, temples, neck facial pain upon wakening difficulty opening and closing the mouth crepitus tmj clicking/popping, crunching/grinding noise during oral function Additional considerations: motor vehicle accidents jaw/face injuries arthritis bruxism (tooth clenching or grinding) head/neck muscle tension stress oral habits worn/ill-fitting dentures If you have TMJ symptoms and would like to learn more, please contact our office for a consultation with our surgeon to determine if Botox is right for you.

CeraRoot For patients who are seeking an alternative to traditional titanium dental implants, CeraRoot Zirconium Oxide may be a viable option. Here are a few benefits:... Zirconia has a flexural strength and fracture toughness almost twice as high as that of alumina making zirconia very resistant to masticatory forces. Zirconia resists wear, oxidation and corrosion. It is a thermal and electric insulator. CeraRoot’s one piece design (fixture and abutment) simplifies many aspects of implant restoration for the doctor and the patient. However, fixture placement and orientation within the alveolus is critical to supra-gingival restoration. Adequate occlusal space must be anticipated during treatment planning to accommodate the future crown. One piece fixture and abutment means no cover screw, no healing abutment, no impression coping. This reduces complexity, ordering, planning and associated costs. CeraRoot’s colour is white meaning that metal will never show through at the gingival margin as it can with traditional titanium fixtures. The ceramic material picks up stain naturally rendering the appearance of cementum. Circumferential soft tissue healing is excellent including papilla formation. CeraRoot’s zirconium oxide material is acid etched resulting in enhanced bone formation around the implant and firm anchorage. Early loading protocols are more predictable in healthy patients with good bone quality. CeraRoot may be an attractive option for those patients seeking an alternative to traditional titanium implants.

https://youtu.be/wEUjMAGKfJs Here, the CEO of ClaroNav, Doron Dekel, talks about this GPS-like dental chairside technology that renders dental implant placement accuracte, predictable and efficient. This software facilitates the avoidance of anatomical structures including nerve canals, osseous borders, sinus cavities and adjacent root surfaces during surgical placement. This preserves the integrity of those structures and supports the long term success of the fixture itself - not to mention laying a foundation for excellent restorative results and axial loading longevity. Place it where you want it!
