Jim Emberger of NoShaleGasNB brings us this important article on the RCMP's refusing to accept several findings made by the Civilian Review and Complaints Commission on the RCMP response to the 2013 RCMP raid on the anti-shale gas camp in Rexton, New Brunswick, recently published in the NB Media Co-op. "Among the Commission’s findings, released on November 12, were that the RCMP violated citizens’ Charter Rights on issues of warrantless searches, stops and spot checks, and the retention of personal and social media data gathered by the RCMP, even after it was established that an individual was cleared of any criminal or security concerns."

For the second year in a row, Efficiency Canada's national scorecard shows the Higgs Government continues to fail our seniors and single-parent families dealing with rising energy costs and cold, draughty homes.
This is a fantastic webinar about what the forestry industry's practices of largescale clearcutting, herbicide spraying, and softwood plantations are doing to our land, our woods, and our wildlife. Wildlife biologist Bob Bancroft breaks down what's happening to our Acadian forest in clear language with lots of helpful examples. This presentation was part of St. Thomas University's Environmental Praxis Lecture Series and was sponsored by the NB Media Co-op, and RAVEN Rural Action & Voices for the Environment.

Nominated by the late L.J White, the Andover Burr Oak is a 130-year-old tree that stands 25 meters high and 6.3 meters in circumference, making it the largest oak in the province and a village landmark for Perth Andover. Otherwise known as the ‘Royal Oak,’ local folklore tells us that this particular tree was planted from the last remaining acorns taken by a senator and his wife on their return from visiting Windsor Castle in England in 1887. The only trouble with the story? ...The Andover oak is a native New Brunswick burr oak, not an English white oak, leaving many to wonder how folktale came to be! Find this, and other #NB #GreatTrees in our newest edition of Great Trees of New Brunswick, on sale now at Conserver House! #GreatTreesNB
People in Canada overwhelmingly support a transition to renewable energy and energy experts agree that the most acceptable path forward is through renewable, distributed power sources. A survey of more than 150 energy experts finds they believe Canadians are most likely to support sources like wind, solar and geothermal, along with energy efficiency and building retrofits. When people across Canada were asked, they said they want clean, safe, reliable, accessible and affor...dable energy. Find out about the technologies experts feel hold the most promise for Canada's pathway to decarbonization, in this new report from our friends at the David Suzuki Foundation: https://davidsuzuki.org//talking-transition-shaping-canad/

Very interesting story about one of the ways climate change is affecting New Brunswickers. From the article: In the more than 50 years Paulin has lived here, he says he's lost about 90 metres of his yard. ... "When I bought, I'd lose a little every year, but not like in the last few years," says the 77-year-old. "I used to have a big garden out back. Now there's no space."
