Schedules 6 and 8 of Bill 229 contain harmful rollbacks to environmental legislation that will leave us all less resilient to climate and sacrifice our irreplaceable wildlife, forests and wetlands for short term economic gain. #conservationmatters Take Action. https://bit.ly/36LRahI

Schedule 8 gives industry a free pass to destroy forests without consequence. To make matters worse, it would prevent the Minister of Environment, Conservation and Parks from ever issuing a species protection order or habitat protection order for any forest operations conducted as per the exemption. Stand up for the natural world. https://bit.ly/36LRahI

Happy World Fisheries Day! Today, we're highlighting fishers and harvesters living in communities along the shore of northern Ontario where the tides of the largest inland sea rise and fall. Omushkego (Cree) communities depend on healthy ocean ecosystems to continue their way of life, maintain cultural identity and food sovereignty by harvesting trout, pike, and whitefish for their children, parents and community. We are helping these communities establish an Indigenous- led National Marine Conservation Area.

Bold and courageous actions are required to chart a new and different future. Not omnibus budget bills that set aside the public’s rights to be involved in decision making and weaken environmental laws. Add your voice. https://bit.ly/36LRahI #conservationmatters #forestsnottreefarms

That this is happening at a time when we’re facing three interrelated crises: a pandemic, a climate emergency and a biodiversity crisis, is reckless and short-sighted. Tell your MPP you support removing Schedules 6 & 8 from Bill 229.
