My name is Danielle Mathews. I have been a member of the Christmas Tree Festival Committee for just over 10 years. I had always enjoyed attending the festival when I was younger. I remember walking through the hospital atrium and seeing all the trees on display. One year, I was invited to attend the gala and live auction event. It was such a magical evening, seeing the community come together and give so generously to such a great cause. I knew then I wanted to get involved, ...and I joined the committee shortly after that. My favourite part about working on the committee is being a part of something so positive and joyful. From our planning meetings to the event itself, you can feel the happiness and joy it spreads. My favourite part of the holidays would be enjoying time with my family. It is a time when we all really focus on spending quality time with each other, visiting, doing puzzles and really slowing down. My favourite decoration for the holiday would have to be the Christmas tree. There is something magical about the soft glow of a Christmas tree that really sets the tone of the season. See more

We are disheartened to see the rates of #COVID19 infection in our province continue to trend upward. We know these restrictions can be frustrating, but we need #Albertans to work hard to reduce the number of cases. We are #InThisTogether.

My name is Lyanne Kinniburgh, and I have been involved in the CRH Christmas Tree Festival for 8 years and a member of the committee for the last 6 years. It truly is a family affair for me. My husband, Robert Kinniburgh, has been a tree sponsor for the last 8 years, and my daughter, Kassi Iwaasa, has been the decorating sponsor. So myself, along with my two daughters Kassi and Kaylee Sailer, have made up the decorating team. It is definitely something we all enjoy doing and w...ill continue to do. Our little way of giving back! I joined the committee because I love everything about the festival. A big part of my personality is planning, and creativity, so being on the committee for such a great cause just fit with me. I enjoy the social aspect and planning process duties of the committee so much it doesn’t feel like work. I love how much joy the festival brings to the community and how it supports our local hospital. But my favourite part is experiencing how it all comes together on Gala night and knowing that I had a little part of making it happen. My favourite part of the holidays is spending time with family. On Christmas Eve, all 24 of us gather in our Christmas PJs, have a big dinner, play games and have a gift exchange while sipping champagne. Then on Christmas Day, we do it all over again with my in-laws. It is such a blessing to have so much family in our area that we can celebrate with year after year. 2020 may be a different kind of holiday gathering, but we will for sure be celebrating together in love and spirit.
