***CALL FOR POSTERS*** Primary Health Care Research Day Virtual Poster Session Like most other in-person events, Primary Health Care Research Day (originally scheduled for June 23, 2020) was cancelled to combat the spread of Covid-19. Since 2014, Primary Health Care Research Day has provided an important opportunity for knowledge sharing within the primary health care community in Nova Scotia and across Atlantic Canada. BRIC NS remains committed to supporting primary and ...integrated health care research and is excited to announce that we will be hosting a virtual poster session to promote knowledge translation. Date: October 29, 2020* Time: 9:00 11:00 am ADT (*depending on the volume of posters received, a second session may be scheduled) Presenters will have 5 minutes to share their posters, with 3 minutes for questions. Posters may be about completed or in-progress research or quality assurance projects. We invite posters from patients, community members, students, medical residents, health care providers, researchers, and knowledge users. Existing posters may be reused, with the condition that a statement(s) of how the work addresses primary health care is added. Submission Full abstracts are not required but the following information must be submitted: a description of your topic (max. 300 words) your topics relevance to primary health care (max. 50 words) if applicable, how patient engagement was included in the work (max 50 words). The information above should be sent to [email protected] as a Word Document no later than 11:59 pm ADT on September 30. UNBs multi-faceted Integrated Health Initiative (IHI) program will be launched this fall with UNBs Saint John campus introduction of a new Bachelor of Health degree. See the link for all the details!

Dr. Shelley Doucet, Dr. Kerrie Luck, and Dr. Alison Luke received funding for a project exploring the experiences of disruption and adaptations to routines, roles, habits and occupations of individuals with chronic disease during the pandemic. This was one of the thirteen UNB research projects that received funding from the New Brunswick Innovation Foundation (NBIF), the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) and the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency. The foundations had issued a joint call for research projects to better understand and address the challenges created by the Covid-19 pandemic, with up to $50,000 in funding available per project. In total, the foundations have invested $846,707 in support of 27 projects across the province. UNBs projects represent nearly half of all those funded.

Drs. Shelley Doucet and Alison Luke of the CRIC lab, along with Horizon Health Networks Dr. Pamela Jarret are New Brunswick leads for COGNISANCE (Co-designing dementia diagnosis and post-diagnostic care). COGNISANCE is an international funded project that is co-led by teams in Canada, Australia, the Netherlands, United Kingdom, and Poland. NBHRF has a new CEO!

Dr. Sandra Magalhaes, a NB SPOR PIHCI Network stakeholder, is researching COVID-19 risk indicators to support community planning and recovery efforts and better inform possible responses in New Brunswick. Dr. Magalhaes is a Research Associate with UNB Frederictons Dept. of Sociology and NB-IRDT team member. Her project is one of the twenty-seven in NB that was funded by NBIF, NBHRF, and ACOA when they issued a joint call for research projects to better understand and address the challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. In October 2019, the NB PIHCI Network and the Maritime SPOR SUPPORT Unit (MSSU) co-hosted the 2nd annual Patients Den. Select researchers pitched their projects to a panel of patients and caregivers for a chance to win funds to help further their research. Dr. Kathryn Weaver from the University of New Brunswick received $5,000 that evening for her project Its Not About Food: Peer-to-peer support for eating disorders recovery on campus. Dr. Weaver and her team are now recruiting for this project. This is the first time the study/intervention will be facilitated online and the team is looking for participants from across the province.
