#DonkeyoftheWeek Jesse Jesse is a small standard pinto donkey. She was born on June 18th, 1995 and lived with three other donkeys on a farm in southwestern Ontario. In early 2015 her owner realized that she might no longer be able to take care of her four little donkeys and she contacted the DSC as a possible new home for them. We were happy to bring Jesse and her three friends to the Sanctuary Farm in the summer of 2015. Jesse and her friends were well loved pet donkeys, and they all love attention and being brushed.

#DonkeyoftheWeek : Abigail Abigail, or Abby to her friends, is a brown and white pinto donkey, born in Southern Ontario in 1998. By the time Abby was 1 1/2 years old, she was pregnant. This is much too young for a jennet (female donkey) to be in foal. Still, Abby was fortunate and gave birth without complications to a beautiful daughter, named Becky. The two donkeys received excellent care at their home. In 2007 however, Abby’s caretakers found that they were unable to continue looking after their donkeys. Abby and Becky were admitted to The Donkey Sanctuary of Canada (DSC) for lifelong care in April 2007. Abby is one of the sweetest donkeys here at the DSC. She is quiet and unassuming and is a wonderful ambassador for the DSC on Open Days. She will stand so visitors can pet and brush her soft coat, enjoying the peaceful moment.
