Thank you all for the patience as we have adapted to the changes. Our systems are coming along and we are getting close to catching up with all of the missed appointments. Our main phone lines are now fully open so please call us at 403-526-8900 if you need to get hold of us. We are still utilizing curbside check-in to limit the number of people moving through the clinic. Text updates will be sent at the end of the appointment to parents waiting in their cars.

We are rolling along working hard to play catch up and reschedule everyone. Thank you to Leisa and Colleen at BLOEM for the flowers to brighten our day!

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 15.08.2020

Welcome Back! We are reopening tomorrow May 14th on a reduced schedule. Our staff has been busy calling everyone to reschedule missed appointments. We are rescheduling on a first cancelled, first rescheduled basis, so March missed appointments will be the first to be seen. A curbside check-in will be instituted. When patients arrive they are to send a text to 403-952-8951 and state the patient name and let us know that you have arrived. Please stay in your vehicle if poss...ible. A text will be returned with a link to fill out an online COVID-19 screening form. Once we are ready to see the patient, we will text again to advise that it is safe to come in and we will let you know which clinic chair to go to. They will be labeled. Please use the hand sanitizer when you enter, and then proceed directly to the clinic chair indicated. An assistant will greet you and then the appointment will begin. We ask that only patients enter the clinic so as to reduce the number of people passing through the office and help with social distancing. Exceptions can be made for our very young patients or patients with disabilities, but we ask that only one parent or guardian enter the office. The coffee station, video games, magazines, and public washroom will be out of order for some time. We ask that patients brush their teeth prior to coming to their appointment. After the appointment, a staff member will call or text the waiting parents in order to schedule the next appointment. In many cases, the doctor or assistant will also send a text to give an update on the treatment progress. Adult patients can check with the reception team on the way out to book their next appointment. In an effort to keep our staff and patients safe, enhanced PPE has been put into place. You will notice that the clinical staff will be wearing extra protective equipment depending on the type of appointment. The masks you will see may range from the standard mask type that you were used to seeing up to a commercial type respirator, This will also vary depending on what is taking place in the appointment. Certain appointments such as braces removal, will be on pause for now until we can catch up and get a good stockpile of the needed PPE as there are currently some shortages. We appreciate your patience during this time as there are likely to be some bumps in the road along the way. The staff will be busy rescheduling appointments and coordinating with the curbside check-in, so we ask that patients do not call us unless it is an emergency, or we have left you a message to ask you to call. Our team will do our best to reschedule everyone in a timely manner. We look forward to seeing everyone! We are ready to get things back on track. Stay Safe and please share this post!

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 07.08.2020

Hello all King and Knowlton Orthodontic Patients and Families. The Government of Alberta is allowing orthodontic clinics to open with certain restrictions in place. We have planned MAY 14TH as our reopening date. The clinic schedule will be adjusted so as to function at a reduced capacity in order to maintain social distancing as much as possible. In order to help us reschedule all of the missed appointments, please do not call us. We will be in contact with all of our p...atients in due time. The rescheduling will happen based on the timeline of the cancelations. The first appointments that were canceled during the closure will be the first appointments that are rescheduled. The urgency of these appointments will also be taken into account. We will eventually catch up with all of the missed appointments, but it will take time. Your patience will be greatly appreciated. Certain office protocols will be adapted to ensure the safety of our office team and our patients: - A curb side check-in will be instituted that would allow patients to text when they arrive. Details on this procedure will be given when we call to reschedule. - We would ask that only the patient being treated enter the office for the appointment to limit the number of people in the office at one time. - A COVID-19 risk assessment questionnaire will be sent via text or email prior to the appointment. - Exams and recall appointments may be put on hold for now to allow us to catch up with patients who are in active treatment. Stay tuned for a virtual exam option. - Retainer check appointments are also on hold, unless there is an issue with a retainer - The public washroom will be out of service - The coffee station, games area, and magazines will not be available In addition to the above, all of the braces removal appointments will be delayed until we are able to acquire enough PPE to accommodate the procedures due to the aerosol produced. The standard masks and gloves that you are used to seeing our staff wear, will be in effect for most of the orthodontic adjustment appointments. You may see the staff wearing enhanced PPE for procedures that involve removal of both the braces, and the glue that bonds the braces to the teeth. We hope to be able to reschedule those braces removal appointments soon as we are sure that our patients were looking forward to finishing treatment. The protocols will evolve over time as we monitor the COVID-19 pandemic. Once again we ask that our patients hold off on calling us to reschedule as we will be in contact. Any incoming calls will limit our ability to make outgoing calls to reschedule our patients in a timely and efficient manner. We understand that many people are eager to be seen. Updates will be posted when available. The staff at King and Knowlton Orthodontics are excited to get back to work and see some smiling faces! Please click Share to help us get the word out!

May the Fourth be With You! We are working on some new office protocols and sourcing out PPE for our future reopening. Unfortunately there is a shortage on certain PPE due to it understandably being diverted to hospitals and other healthcare. Once we have everything in place to make sure our staff and patients are safe, we will give an update as to a reopening date. Until then, please do not call to schedule an appointment. We will be in contact. The rescheduling will have some bumps along the way due to the volume of appointments and some restrictions that will be in place, so your patience will be appreciated. Stay safe!

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 02.07.2020

Many of you may have likely heard the announcement from the Alberta government that some services, including dental, will be allowed to open on May 4th so long as we follow our Dental College guidelines. Unfortunately we do not have any guidelines as of yet, so the chances of opening on May 4th are low, especially if these guidelines are asking for changes to PPE which may be in short supply in the province. Please do not call to rebook appointments quite yet and keep an eye on our Facebook page for updates. We will only be treating emergencies until we have more guidance and can assure that we are able to keep both our patients and staff safe.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 18.06.2020

All of us at King and Knowlton Orthodontics hope you had a great Easter even with the social distancing. The office is still closed and we do not have a timeline as of yet for our reopening. Once we know more, our staff will be busy contacting everyone to reschedule appointments. For our patients who are running out of elastics, on their last Invisalign trays, or just want us to check on their progress, you may send us some updated photos so we can arrange to get you more e...lastics/Invisalign trays or advise you on your current status. The attached YouTube video offers some great instruction on how to take these photos (https://youtu.be/a3xmahtWh64). Spoons could be used instead of fingers to retract the lips and cheeks in order to get a better view of the teeth. We would then ask you to send the photos via email to the email address of [email protected] with the subject line of Virtual Progress Check for One of the doctors will check the images and reply within 2-3 days to let you know how to proceed. Hopefully we will get back to our regular schedule soon. Thank you for your patience during this time. For other issues, please see our post on how to handle orthodontic emergencies.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 31.05.2020

We will be out delivering elastics this morning (in Medicine Hat area). Send us a private message with the patient name, size of elastics, and address before 11am and we will drop them at your door or mailbox. You can also email us [email protected] if you prefer.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 28.05.2020

No major updates today on the office closure due to Covid-19. We have no timeframe as of yet for when we will reopen. As today is National Sourdough Bread Day and stores are out of yeast, Dr. Knowlton took the time between virtual checkups to make a sourdough starter. Stay safe and keep the virtual checkup photos coming. Hope to see everyone in person soon!

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 09.05.2020

We apologize for the inconvenience of having to cancel appointments due to COVID-19. Since many of our patients are undergoing active tooth movement, we would like to give everyone the option of having a virtual checkup to monitor the progress and direct you as to how to proceed from here. All we would require is for patients/parents to send us some updated photos of the teeth and bite. Please check out the following YouTube link for instructions on how to take these photo...s (https://youtu.be/a3xmahtWh64).

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 26.04.2020

Thank you to everyone for your understanding during this time. We do not have a timeline as of yet as to when we may re-open. Please see the attached guide on how to address many of the common concerns with your orthodontic treatment. Hopefully things get back to normal soon.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 14.04.2020

Update: Our office will continue to be closed for regular orthodontic appointments. We will make every effort to accommodate for proper emergencies involving oral-facial trauma, significant infections, prolonged bleeding, or pain that cannot be managed by over the counter pain medications. In addition, many of you may have seen in the media that some dentists and staff were exposed to COVID-19 at a recent dental conference in Vancouver and are in quarantine. We would like our patients to rest assured knowing that nobody from our office attended the conference in question.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 31.03.2020

Attention to all K&K Orthodontic patients! The government and dental college has directed all dental practices to close in Alberta in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. We will be working hard to contact everyone in attempt to notify and reschedule. No definitive timeline has been given to us at this time. Please call for emergencies only and leave a voicemail and we will get back to you as soon as we can. We will update again when we know more. Thank you for your patience.

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 24.03.2020

Thank you to all of our patients for their understanding during this time of uncertainty with respect to the COVID-19 outbreak. We have decided to remain open during this time to service our patients. There will be alterations to our schedule to reduce the number of people passing through the clinic in an attempt to limit contact and protect our patients and staff. We will be revisiting this decision on a daily basis with the possibility that we close our doors for a perio...d of time with little notice. We do ask that only one parent attend the appointments with their child in an attempt to help reduce traffic in our reception area. In the meantime, we are following standard precautions. If you are feeling ill and exhibiting any of the symptoms of COVID-19, or have been in contact with someone who is, please contact us to reschedule your appointment. If we do happen to close the office, we will have staff available to take your calls and handle certain emergencies. We will continue to monitor the situation and do our best to keep everyone abreast of our status. Stay safe everyone.

Thanks to Dr. Baba for the treats from Redcliff Bakery! We may have to shut down the office today as we are all on a sugar high!

King & Knowlton Orthodontics 13.02.2020

Thanks to Drs. Goth and Olsen at Chinook Oral Surgery for the great treats! We refer to them because they are great surgeons, but the treats are great too! The only problem is that the staff productivity is down due to everyone sneaking into the lunch room for a nibble.
