TODAY WAS SO EPIC! I treated a patient under both ultrasound and fluoroscopy guidance with the neurosurgeon collaborating and assisting!!! Seriously! HOW COOL IS THAT??! Mind blown - this is a new level of amazing in medicine and one for my books! Sorry, was too stressed and excited to take a photo so this one will have to do!

FAREWELL 2020! Can’t deny I am a little happy you are coming to a close. This year has definitely been interesting to say the least! Feels like a massive transition year for me both personally and professionally. Not only did I move my home and practice to a new city, start working closely with a neurosurgeon, but I also had to navigate my practice and patients through a pandemic - a HUGE thank you to all my patients for being so understanding and appreciative of my efforts. ...Although I am exhausted, thankfully, I feel like this year has helped me grow into a better physician and person. I am extremely grateful for the support and love of my amazing partner Dylan Stanley - you still make my heart flutter and everyday I am so thankful I met you (around this time actually 2 years ago ). To me, today is a chance to take a moment to honour what I am grateful for in the past year and to create or remind myself of a vision for the future - what to strive for and dream about! I love the future (and present of course ) HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! . . . . . . . . . . . . #newyear #happyholidays #2021 #goodbye2020 #newyearseve #kamloops #kamloopsbc #vancouver #goals #dreams #movingforward #strivetobebetter #growthmindset #growth #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopath See more

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL YOU BEAUTIFUL SOULS OUT THEREI know this holiday season hasn’t been what we normally expect it to look or feel like. But, I have spent many moments over the past few days reflecting on the wonderful things that still shine through and I am holding on to the hope that soon some normalcy will return. There is promise that soon we can take a well deserved rest from the tireless attack that Covid-19 has ensued upon us in mind, body, and spirit. Sending mu...ch love to you all and wishing you the very best this holiday season from my family to yours however it may be for you this year. . . . . . . . . . . #christmas #christmas2020 #happyholidays #kamloopsbc #kamloops #beautifulbc #positivevibes #hopeforthefuture #covid_19 #future #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopathy #naturopath #seasonsgreetings See more

THE WAITING GAME. Usually I am inspired to write my posts. I like to keep them real, personal, and relevant. So... with that theme in mind and only a small amount of inspiration bubbling up I decided to state things as they are. We are all in a waiting game. Not much new happens, grocery shopping is the highlight of the week , and Covid has turned into a constant viral replication of thoughts . So, here’s to ending 2020 in (a new) style. At home. Definitely in Pjs, and cook...ing for 2. Honestly, as much as all of these Covid precautions pull at the anxiety and depression strings it is helpful to remind yourself of all the positives that do still exist in life. Here are my plans for this holiday season to hopefully inspire you: Drink tea (I got lots of yummy festive ones), read a good book (currently enthralled with Queen Elizabeth II history), cook inspired meals (just bought a new cookbook), pick a good show on Netflix, plan Christmas phone calls with friends and family. In the outdoors, I plan to ski and hopefully enjoy some snowy walks and a bonfire. Hopefully, one of these ideas helps you have a happier and cozier holiday season. Let’s try and be kind to everyone’s hearts. Change is not always easy if you care to share your holiday ideas - I would love some too! We can still bring the joy! . . . . . . . . . . . . #kamloops #kamloopsbc #christmas2020 #covid_19 #newtraditions #inspiration #thesmallthings #lovetoall #kindness #staysafe #stayhome #positivevibes #findingjoy #holidayseason #happyholidays See more

DECISIONS. As a physician the right decision is not always as clear as you may think. Last week I had to make a challenging choice regarding whether to go see my Vancouver patients that I so deeply care for or not. After much anxiety and deliberation I decided to cancel my weekend - because it’s not about me. It’s not about me wanting to be there for my patients, it’s not about me desiring to visit my favourite place, it’s not about me being an essential care worker. It’s a...bout everyone else. Going from a low risk area to a high risk area and back again increases the chances significantly of spread and with that potentially life changing consequences for maybe not myself, but someone else. I wanted to express this side of the choice as it was not easy by any means. Please consider others when you are moving about, be kind to physicians doing their best, and be patient - there is hope ahead. At least that is what I keep telling myself . . . . . . . . . #kamloops #kamloopsbc #covid_19 #physiciansofbc #doctors #doingmybest #itsaboutothers #safteyfirst #harddecisions #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopathy #naturopath #beautifulbc See more

MOVING OUT OF THE PAST. I sat this morning with a cup of coffee and connected with my thoughts - I felt acutely reminded that only I have the power to grow and adapt from my past. I felt a glimmer of hope for the world with the US election results and finally feel cautiously optimistic that we can move forward towards a more positive world direction - despite Covid life alterations. I find it challenging sometimes to navigate what is a trigger and what is a real emotion. But,... I think it’s how you move through it and forward that matters most. As individuals we can only control our own experience and actions to be the most powerful version of ourselves. It’s important that we reflect and attempt to understand how we got to where we are today. Sending out some hopeful vibes for all of us and our futures! . . . . . . . . . . #kamloops #movingforward #kamloopsbc #life #livelife #bebold #lovelife #reflections #positivevibes #feelinghopeful #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathy #optimistic See more

PRP (PROTEIN RICH PLASMA). Is simply incredible! Essentially, we draw your blood (yes the quality of your blood actually matters) and we spin it down to the point that only the super healing nutrients remain. To give you an idea the end result is only 7mLs of pure gold.It is then injected back into the damaged area (preferably with ultrasound guidance to ensure it is precisely in the correct/most damaged area) and about 6 weeks of amazing healing happens after . I use this ...therapy with old injuries that do not want to heal or if the joint is severely inflamed and damaged. If it’s the right therapy for you the results are astounding! Very thankful I can offer this therapy option to my patients . . . . . . . . . . . . #prp #regenerativemedicine #ultrasound #injections #kamloops #kamloopsbc #regeneration #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopathy #ultrasound #healing See more

HEALTHY PAIN. Is that a thing? Actually YES but let me qualify that statement. Recently I started back to exercising more regularly - I decided to try Barre Fitness classes at @barre_kamloops (which are amazingly fun and I highly recommend!!) As the colder days approach and less and less light after work allows me to mountain bike I typically transition to more indoor exercise methods to stay fit through the winter. With that, comes working out new muscles and this causes pai...n! I tell my patients movement is pretty much always best BUT I do understand it can be a challenge when all your brain knows is pain = bad. I navigate this transition when my patients are ready and help them to differentiate between the different kinds of pain. In order to become an amazingly functional human everyone at some point has to push through the first walk like a duck or DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness) period. The key is to notice the different sensations compared to bad pain - for those in chronic pain it can feel all too familiar and requires personal brain coaching. Help your brain heal the connection it has to the pathological pain and support it in learning that some pain is actually okay and healthy. Hope that makes some sense and supports getting you out there when you are ready! Happy walking, healthy blood flow pumping, and hopefully muscle building sessions ahead! . . . . . . . . . . . #barrefitness #kamloops #kamloopsbc #ykastrong #fitness #healthylifestyle #strength #improvebloodcirculation #painrelief #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopathy See more

PROLOTHERAPY. One of the best options for repairing ligament damage! The solution is a combination of high dose Dextrose 50% (inflammatory repair agent), procaine or xylocaine 1% (anesthetic), and vitamin B12 (repairing agent). Due to ligamentous structures lacking optimal blood flow for repair - the mechanism of action is to say Hey body! Pay attention to this area and prioritize fixing it!. Essentially, we ask it to heal by recruiting all of your body’s repairing agents.... Typically, this treatment requires 4-6 sessions approximately 2 weeks apart which allows your body sufficient time to perform healing. I tell my patients - I am inducing high alarm to the damaged area and asking the body to get busy and fix it. Symptoms post treatment that indicate a good healing response include: achiness, pain, redness, potentially bruising, and others. It’s not super fun BUT the outcome is amazing - pain relief, increased strength, and improved ROM! Some of my favourite areas/conditions I have fixed are: elbow tendinitis, shoulder pain/rotator cuff tears (Supraspinatus tear is most common), knee pain and meniscus tear, both high and low ankle sprain/strain to name a few. So thankful for this therapy! . . . . . . . . #kamloops #kamloopsbc #prolotherapy #ultrasound #painmanagement #painmanagementsolutions #kneepainrelief #anklepain #elbowpain #tendonitis #ligaments #ligament #regerativemedicine #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #naturopathy #painrelief #injectiontherapy See more

DISCONNECTED. I think we are all to some degree feeling this way and not quite sure what to do about it. I know for me I typically enjoy making the random grocery store clerk laugh on my ever exciting shopping adventures or I will smile at a random friendly face walking down the street (I know I am definitely an extrovert ). But, with necessary safety measures in place I feel like connecting is so much harder! Our masked and robotic excursions along with fear has dominated o...ur existence but I am not sure it has to. We are still human. Let us try and still connect in safe ways - here are some of my ideas: try to talk more to strangers - you don’t need to be close to use your voice behind the mask. Just say hi! Smile, you can still tell if someone is smiling even behind those germ containing muzzles! Message your friends to just check in on them. Call people and see how they are doing. Trust me, I am very acutely aware of how challenging connection is during this unprecedented time - I moved to a new city during a pandemic . We need to try harder with the tools we do have! Challenge yourself - see if tomorrow you can make someone smile - just because you can. We don’t always know what someone is going through at any particular time but I guarantee it always helps to share connection - especially during times like this! Sending love and virtual hugs to you all! . . . . . . . . . #feelinglonely #notalone #covid_19 #smile #friends #stayconnected #tryharder #connectioniskey #connection #disconnected #safetyfirst #support #kamloops #kamloopsbc #sharethelove #ykastrong See more

I MISS YOU. The other day I was reminiscing about how much I miss all of my patients that I connected with and treated for over 5 years in North Vancouver . I am definitely finding it hard on my heart as a physician with so much personally invested in my patients’ lives and health to move to a different city and leave you all . I want you to know that this has been an amazing opportunity and I feel extremely honoured to be growing as a physician and learning so much from th...e incredible Neurosurgeon Dr. Brownlee, MD! It blows my mind honestly! I just want to you to know that I am thinking about you all and sending you lots of love and health. I hope you are all doing well and have found new inspiration and/or support in your health journey! However, I do feel very fortunate that many have found me again via telemedicine through Welcome Back Centre! . . . . . . . . #kamloopsbc #kamloops #northvancouverbc #northshore #missyou #sendinglove #doctor #compassion #healthcare #naturopathic #naturopath #naturopathicmedicine #physcian #patients #telemedicine #thankful See more

NEURAL THERAPY. An incredible modality that works on decompressing the small superficial nerves that can get entrapped in the muscle and or scar/fascia. I honestly use this therapy all day long - giving close to 300 injections daily!! I originally studied with an Australian physician - Dr. John Lyftogt, MD who is honestly brilliant and I was so thankful for his insight and treatment protocols. Since then however I have spent many patient cases worth and courses adapting and u...tilizing different formulas to individualize treatment plans for my patients. I use this therapy successfully for nerve pain, muscle spasms, headaches, migraines, complex regional pain syndrome, muscle and nerve inflammation, muscle and nerve trauma, osteoarthritis, and many many other conditions. It’s truly one of my favourite tools! Do not underestimate the power of entrapped nerves and how they send pain messages to your brain! . . . . . . . . . . . . . #kamloopsbc #kamloops #neuraltherapy #painmanagement #painrelief #nervepain #naturopath #naturopathicmedicine #naturopathicdoctor #pain #medicine #medicinewoman See more
