Empowered Fitness Regina 11.11.2020

Closing the gym! For the past 7 years I’ve had the pleasure of working with hundreds of wonderful people from Regina helping them to become healthier, happier versions of themselves. We’ve done this through consistent no nonsense nutrition and sound training systems that deliver repeatable results. We started out working with clients one on one developing and refining our systems. We eventually transitioned to a semi private training system, and we were able to help our clie...nts get even better results in less time. 4 years ago we made the choice to purchase equipment and start our own facility. At this time we added a new group training program to coincide with our semi private training option. Things were going well and we were seeing growth when a fire caused us to close down for 12 months. We reopened as soon as we were able to and started to rebuild our client list back up and Covid-19 hit. Having two big financial setbacks has been a lot to handle for our family to take and we have decided to make some changes to our business model to adapt to the times. July 3rd will be our last day operating our physical location at 1751 Broad st. Moving forward we will be working out of another facility where we can have a reduced overhead to recover from the losses the fire and Covid-19 has taken on us. We will also be focusing more efforts on our online training and nutrition systems so that we can continue to help as many people from Regina to be healthier, happier versions of themselves as we can. We want to thank everyone that has supported us and worked with us over the past 7 years. We often say that we would be here without you and we mean it. It has been the biggest privilege of my life to work with some many wonderful people. This is not the end for Empowered Fitness just a change and when we openly embrace change it’s rarely a bad thing. We move forward with our heads held high knowing we did our very best to help the people of our community to grow and level up their health and fitness. Follow our page for more updates as we figure out our next steps. As soon as we have a gym to operate out of we will post it here. I wanted to update all our Empowered People as to our new training location. I have teamed up with my friends Kim and Jake Sinclair over at Anytime Fitness. I've known Kim and Jake for 7 years and they are as passionate about health and fitness as I am. I will be running the training out of the north location at 6250 Rochdale Blvd. The club is very clean and bright and everything is measured out for Covid-19 concerns. Fitness and health myths debunked! . There are so many fitness and weight loss myths and misconceptions that drive us crazy down here at Empowered Fitness! Today we're going to look into another myth and put it to rest so you don't fall for the many health gimmicks and fads. . Weight-loss shakes and meal-replacement smoothies may seem like an easy way to drop a few pounds, but they're not designed for the long term. Once you are off the shakes, you are likely to return to you...r old eating habits and gain the weight back. . Here are some tips on making weight loss work without the shakes and fads that just cause yo-yo dieting: #1 - focus on whole foods that nourish and fuel your body #2 - eat in a sustainable way #3 - find what works best for you #4 - include protein with every meal #5 - avoid depriving yourself which can lead to binging . Protein also promotes muscle repair and growth so increasing your protein intake on days that you exercise is beneficial. Keep in mind that eating more protein alone won’t necessarily help you shed excess weight in a healthy way. When consumed in excessive amounts it can still lead to weight gain much like eating excess carbs or fat would. Incorporating high protein foods will help keep you full so supplementing with protein shakes can certainly help keep you feeling full for longer periods of time. Find a protein shake that you enjoy drinking and it can be a great addition to a healthy diet. Avoid restricting and depriving yourself and focus on fueling your body with nutrient dense food. . The whole world has been surrounded by so much uncertainty and we’ve all handled it in our own way. We believe that when hard times hit, and the c...hallenges you face are great, you need to make the choice to let the challenges strengthen you and help you grow. Over time you will find that life isn’t necessarily any easier or harder than you thought it was going to be. Did you know that today is National Gardening Exercise Day? Unfortunately today’s weather isn’t the best but our gardens are getting some much needed moisture! When the sun is shining again get outside and enjoy the benefits we reap from gardening. Gardening is therapeutic, builds muscles and burns calories. Some of the gardening activities that are excellent for working your muscles and for burning calories include weeding, digging, spading, planting, pruning, mowing and r...aking. Many of us do not realize the amount of healthy exercise that we can get while working outside in the garden. It involves a lot of walking back and forth as well as bending up and down along with other things. Being out in the fresh air and sunshine are also added benefits. Gardening is an excellent stress reliever too! Pull those weeds, plant some seeds, and get your muscles moving! Your garden will look great, and you will feel fantastic, too!
