Koo Architecture, Altgeld Family Center, Chicago, USA 2020. https://www.kooarchitecture.com//altgeld-library-childcar/ An excellent review by Zach Mortice, https://www.chicagoreader.com//altgeld-gardens-fa/Content... Is this library politics? A new building filled with social service and education amenities at Altgeld Gardens is a test case for the limits of design and architecture. http://zachmortice.com

One can discover an amazing project from Japan just every day. The thickness of the technical equipment of every floor plate, revealed on the façade is just a master move. The spatial organization is very subtle in order to respond to the complexity of the program (read below). A Nomad Sub + nanometer architecture, PALETTE Workspace for Continuous Employment, Osaka, Japan 2019 Photographs by Takumi Ota.... Text from architects. "PALETTE is a facility for Continuous Employment Type B Support Services for the Disabled, where people with intellectual disabilities engage in manufacturing work that respects each employee’s personality and individuality not repetitive menial tasks. This facility is equipped with a confectionary factory where users can make amezaiku (Japanese candy art), a ceramics factory with a full-scale kiln, a printing factory with silk-screen equipment, and an art studio that allows various expressions not limited to paintings, as well as a café, gallery, and shop to exhibit users’ works. Creative activities in the factories and studios usually take place in a room with a large space from the manageability perspective. However, depending on the characteristics of the disabilities, some are stressed when in the same space with others like those I met at the existing facility. Therefore, for this facility, we were expected to design a space where each individual user could find a comfortable place to fit in, not a homogeneous space like a Domino Skeleton."

Delugan Meissl, Observation Tower, Tengchong, China. In process. Concrete structure clad in local volcanic stone. 99 meters tall. Is it like Heatherwick’s monument at Hudson’s Yards in New York, or is it different? Debate is open.... https://www.dmaa.at/work/tengchong-observation-tower-library
