A beautiful lake to spend some relaxing hours at....it was around Easter Time when this big old boy ran across the road...at first I was surprised because it still as pretty early in the year .... but he was so skinny he just had to go and eat some skunk cabbage, just to look normal again ...beautiful Big Black Bear....the following morning I surprised 13 Ek getting a drink from the lake ...next to meerkats, elk are my favorite critters

I came around the corner and this.... young Mom to Be...was just heading into the bush ...going down to the creek for water...as she was walking away from me I ...could see the baby's feet, elbows protruding from her tummy....the young Mom was very stressed out and in the start of labor...so I wished her luck ....and let nature do its thing.. Southside of the cabins on Moat Lake....it is 31'- 8" to the ridge on the middle cabin....not a big fan of shingling a roof like this .....but when you can go ...fishing after the roofing is done ....I think it is more than a fair trade.... by the end of June the next year, the cabin was still covered by snow....real late summer that year.. SECOND MOST EXCITING ENCOUNTER WITH A BIG TOM out of 26 encounters with these beautiful cats........I took a friend from Montreal hunting up at Father and Son L...ake...Driving up to the lake... I noticed the Conservation Officer posted a notice banning hunting in the area...Apparently there was a very mean and aggressive Tom in the area .....Jean looked at me and said why are you smiling.....I said I know exactly where that Cat will be...we walked for 2 hours and came to the Grassy Slope.....(after climbing through an ugly windfall that I didn't know was there)....AS I was sitting down I saw the cat jump up into the tree right beside us....Imagine this ..Jeans first time in the bush and if he had my rifle he could have touched the Cougars tail.....After an 1/2 hour it was getting pretty dark...and the Cat was getting antsey...I could see his muscles tensing up...So I slipped the safety off the gun...Jean was no dummy.. he says... that cat is right here..I nodded yes and said FOR FUCKS SAKES DON'T RUN....Now this huge kitty cat....started to growl very low and very deep ..I took that as I sign we should leave....I didn't want Jean to know how close the Tom was ..he would have run for sure if he knew....Hey I have to admit.... I was over the moon with excitement...but I had to get that Frenchman out there...So I told Jean to walk ahead ..while I kept one eye on the big boy...Once Jean was 30 meters away I got up and said good bye to one of the most beautiful creatures on this planet....Walking back to the truck...a bank gave away and I dropped 5 meters and broke my ankle ....I gave my gun to Jean.... and I did a 35 minute walk in 16 minutes.... Once at the truck I had to cut off my Leather Boot off ...a very long 2 hour drive home...One hell of an experience though....Most people have to pay good money for thrills like this and we can go out any day of the week...any time...COUGAR MEAT IS THE BEST TASTING WILD GAME YOU CAN EAT...EVEN BETTER THAN ELK...BOY I SURE LIVE ON AN INCREDABLE ISLAND See more

Apparently, the logging company ...Mosiac....has put in 4 tank traps across the road to keep all vehicles from accessing this lake in the spring of 2020

Uncle Al also told me that when they are scooping up the water...if an engine missed one beat....they and the plane were toast.... due to all the weight the plane had taken on....they were too heavy to take off...

SECRET LAKE NO.1.....3years ago this lake or pond had lost 11 inches of water ...it stayed the same level until this year when it gained back 6 inches in height....so I felt it wasn't going to do any damage if I fished it this year ( the lake is only 12' deep)........ I took my fish finder out on the lake for the first time in 11 years and I was quite happy with the diversity of ages of the Rainbow Trout in the lake.... sometimes lakes with no pressure see all the big fish e...at the little fish .... and they have to build back up again ...the first evening I came to the conclusion that the bite was over because by Saturday the fish were all hiding the grasses and barely showed up on the fish finder ... this lake is one of the few lakes on the island that has never been stocked....it is spring fed and has a big waterfall south of the lake which no fish can traverse.....so I can't see any cross breeding ...the white tips of the bottom fins remind me tall the Rainbow Trout I caught as a youngster....I have fished this lake for 26 years and have only seen one other fisherman and signs of a few more who fished it ...Which is a good thing due to the size of the lake.. Harvey ...my little dog growled for 10 minutes at this big boy ...but when this beautiful creature started getting closer to us Harvey realized he wasn't something to play around with and Harvey stopped growling and gave the buck a lot of respect...

It is a good thing he has a nice rack ..because if he didn't ...he would look really funny with that huge body for a Vancouver Island Blacktail Buck

I started fishing this lake when I was 4 years old....When I was 14 I used to ride my bike here from Hammond Bay Rd.....pretty tough haul up hil but the ride home was fast and bumpy....back then on the other side of the lake there were 5-6 great big Cedar trees laying out into the water which I fished from...

MY HANDHELD FISHING NET CONVERTS INTO A PADDLE IS SIMILAR TO THIS NET.... BUT MY NET WILL HAVE A RETRACTABLE CORD WITH A CLASP TO ATTACH IT TO THE FLOAT TUBE

Fishing Vancouver Island 08.03.2020

I FILED MY PATENT FOR A HANDHELD FISHING NET THAT COVERTS INTO A PADDLE FOR FLOAT TUBES AND BELLY BOATS ....MARITIME LAW STATES THAT ANY VESSEL UNDER 19' 8" must have a paddle ...the law also states that any vessel that goes from point A to point B on the water is a vessel ... and for all of us that have been blown to the wrong part of the lake this invention will be a lifesaver

On our way to Father and Son Lakes, we had a pretty good test for our new off-road tires....they did very well...the dog looked at me and sort of said that wasn...'t a road....I bounced off the ceiling 2 times ...but I said look at the view ...I used to walk uphill for over 2 hours in the dark just to walk the top of the mountain by the rock bluffs ...as I was talking to Harvey I caught a flash of black and I just caught another flash of white or pink ...it must have been the little one's mouth or tongue, the cub closed its mouth and then I could see his nose ....for being in the bush for over 60 years this was a first ...we waited around for mommy but she didn't show up ..you can bet she wasn't far from her baby...now you can just drive to the top....
